Last week was Comic-Con and there were so much amazing announcements, interviews, etc. that I’m still writing about it, yay. One of my favorite elements about movies are the posters. Posters tell you everything about how epic a movie is going to be and Marvel released some pretty cool posters for their upcoming movies for me to analyze. So on that note let me start talking about them.
First of all, I already loved the first teaser for Black Panther. The cinematography and creativity were off the chain. Having Kendrid Lamar’s song play to the beat of the trailer was impeccable. And seeing so many awesome, strong African characters in one trailer was simply beautiful. I’m already sold on Black Panther next February. In fact, I was already sold in Captain America: Civil War. That’s how fantastic this superhero is. And now it has an official poster which only increases my excitement for this movie.
What I like about this poster is its simplicity. There aren’t any fancy garments or locations, epic characters (besides Black Panther himself) to distract from the main protagonist of this film, or just too much stuff crammed into the poster.
Black Panther standing upon the giant panther statue overlooking his vast home of Wakanda bathed in a sunny glow is the perfect first main poster for this film. And the words at the bottom, Long Live The King, are so awesome. I can’t wait until next February. This is going to be one of my favorite movie experiences, I can already tell.
Okay, now here’s what I think about this poster. There’s a lot of stuff going on. You’ve got The Hulk, Hela, and Thor descending down the poster in tiers. And then below them are Odin, Idris Elba’s character (I don’t know his name,) Jeff Goldblum’s character (I don’t know his name either,) Loki, and Valkyrie. And then, after all of that, you’ve got the ultra vibrant colors and other things going on throughout the poster. I have to say, it’s definitely different from you’d expect with a Thor movie. The trailers have already shown that this is going to be a new version of the hammer wielding, thunder-god but this poster really relays that fact.
Do I like this poster? It’s okay. I find the colors a little offsetting and honestly weird but I get it, this is not your average Marvel film period. My one gripe, however, would be the fact that Valkyrie is so small on the poster. According to the most recent trailer, Valkyrie is a very important character in this film. So why is she in a teensy weensy circle down at the bottom of the poster? It doesn’t make sense and is kind of wrong. I’m just hoping the next poster I see has her at a more respectable size on it.
All in all, I hope the movie isn’t like this poster because if that’s the case I’m not going to like the film a whole lot.
Avengers: Infinity War
And last, but definitely not least, there is this Avengers: Infinity War concept art poster that was given to people at Comic-Con. Isn’t it awesome?!!!
First of all, I’m loving seeing all of the Avengers on this poster. You’ve got Iron Man with Gamora and Nebula on one side and Captain America with Falcon and Black Widow on the other. And straight in the middle is Thanos with his minions who, unfortunately, you can’t see fully on this picture.
Secondly, Captain America’s new look is beyond great. Ever since Winter Soldier I’ve been hoping that Steve Rogers would eventually grow a beard. I felt it would make him look even more epic than he already is and would make him just that more awesome. Well, Marvel heard my wishes and waited until Avengers: Infinity War to unleash his beard on everybody and I love it! Oh, I’m so ready for this movie.
Third, I’m also loving Black Widow’s blond hairdo. When I heard on one of the descriptions of the secret Avengers trailer that she now had blond hair I didn’t think she would look that much different. Boy was I wrong? Seeing her with blond hair is so cool. It completely changes her and makes her stand out amidst the heroes. It also contrasts well with her black bodysuit.
Besides those things, I love everything else about the poster equally. The colors, the characters, Thanos’s square jaw, and clenched fist, it’s pretty much perfect. Now I just have to wait patiently (ugh) for the first teaser to come out.
Well, that’s my post about posters. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing these as much as I have and I thank you for reading. Have a beautiful day.
