I know it’s not even a month until Thor: Ragnarok comes out but the closer it gets to November 3 the more excited I’m starting to get. It’s getting closer and closer to the days when Avengers: Infinity War will be the movie I’ll be waiting for and Thor: Ragnarok, I’m sure, will have a lot of nods towards that Avengers film. I’m also excited to watch this new Thor film because it looks so different than all of his other movies.
First of all, you’ve got Thor with the new short hair-do which I find a refreshing change from the flowing golden hair that he used to have.
And he’s now without his famed hammer which means he’ll have to face his opponents in a whole different way now.
Secondly, who doesn’t love to see a new female superhero, and the fact that she’s a woman of color makes her all the more special.
I have no idea who Valkyrie is from the comics but I am thrilled to be introduced to her new character in the Marvel universe. And I am absolutely positive that she can do some serious damage with that sword of hers which I can’t wait to see. In this day and age, we need more women to have strong roles in films instead of being depicted as damsels in distress and I am glad to see Marvel continue that awesome trend.
I am also very happy to see Marvel finally bringing some female villains into the fold.
Cate Blanchett is a magnificent actress. I was first introduced to her as Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and I thought she was amazing as the elven queen. The second movie I saw her in was the Woody Allen film, Blue Jasmine, and I was enthralled in her psychotic character who was trying to pretend to have a normal life after discovering her husband was cheating on her. She did an absolutely fantastic job in that movie and ever since she has become, if not my favorite actress of all time, she is definitely one of my favorite.
The fact that Marvel hired her to be Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, is not only brilliant but really exciting. She will bring all of the villainy needed for the character while also sustaining the character’s sort of immortal vibe. I’m really hoping she ends up being one of the best villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And I’m simply excited to see the Hulk again.
He’s been missing for quite some time now since Avengers: Age of Ultron and the fact that he’s been in some strange world somewhere in the galaxy as a gladiator of sorts is rather hilarious if I’m being honest. The Hulk is quite an interesting character and I can’t wait to see him yelling and tearing things up again.
I guess the main reason why I’m getting so pumped for this film is that there haven’t been trailers thrust onto every special sports event and just dominating commercials left and right. That’s why Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and even Spider-Man: Homecoming kind of turned me away. There was just way too much publicity. The fact that it’s nearly a month until Thor: Ragnarok comes out and there isn’t a whole lot of advertising for it yet means that there are going to be a lot of surprises that the movie will unveil once I watch the film.
And don’t forget, even Doctor Strange will have an appearance in this film. I think this movie just might be the best superhero movie of the year. At least I hope it will be.
I thank you for reading this post and I hope you have a wonderful day.
