The Things I Would Love To See In The Next Trailer for The Last Jedi

I am pretty positive thanks to a very reliable source in the form of Mark Hamill’s twitter that on October 9 the next trailer for The Last Jedi will premiere during Monday Night Football. That is literally only ten days from now. Isn’t that awesome? And so, since it’s so close until the next trailer debuts I’m here writing a post on the things I would really love to see in the trailer. Here they are.

A Few More Shots of Finn

Finn was a very essential character in The Force Awakens, in fact, he was just as important as Rey, and so when the teaser trailer came out I was kind of disappointed to see only one shot of him and that only consisted of him asleep in some sort of bacta device. Now I understand why he was so scarcely seen in the trailer. That trailer was supposed to kind of highlight where the characters were the last time we saw them without really showing too much but it’s less than three months until the movie comes out. I think it’s time we see a little more Finn action, for sure.

I Would Love To See Something Else With Leia

This picture is literally the only shot you see that involves Leia from the trailer and I really want to see more of her. Particularly a frontward shot so I can really see her and not just the back of her. Now I’m sure it wouldn’t be that special of a shot but I want just to see more of our wonderful Resistance general.

There Should Definitely Be At Least One Money Shot of Kylo Ren

Kylo Ren was seen only once in the teaser and that happened to be one of my favorite shots of the trailer because I mean, come on, it’s Kylo Ren, with his lightsaber drawn. That’s awesome enough as it is. I would love to see another shot of him maybe swinging his lightsaber at somebody (particularly Rey in a lightsaber duel) because that would be very, very exciting.

Some Looks At The New Additions to the Star Wars Universe

Rose seems to be a major character in The Last Jedi and so it’s only logical that we’ll see at least one clip with her in it in the new trailer. I’m super excited to be introduced to Rose. She’s the first Asian female to have an important part in a Star Wars film and I think she’s going to become one of my favorite characters in the Star Wars universe. I’m really hoping she’s in the trailer.

There’s also the new character, Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and I’m also hoping her to see her in the next trailer. I don’t know how central her character is going to be to the story but I’m hoping to catch at least a tiny glimpse of her.

And then finally, I Would Love To See Another Shot of Luke

If The Last Jedi is truly named after Luke Skywalker then there should definitely be another shot of the famed Jedi Master. Last time we saw him in a trailer he spoke the ominous words, “It’s time for the Jedi to end” which made every Star Wars fan, including myself, go a little batty for a small while. If he is going to have a little more presence in this next trailer will he say anything else cryptically disturbing or will he just be silent and unhappy looking like he was at the end of The Force Awakens? I’m excited to find out.

Well, those are the things I’m really hoping appear in the trailer. Of course, I want to see a little more with Rey or possibly Poe, or maybe even Chewbacca, but these are the characters I hope get a little more screen time in the next trailer.

  1. Hello Annlyel, firstly may I say nice to meet you! This is my first comment on your blog as the WordPress search results have only just highlighted your site (WordPress search isn’t as good as my Intelligence droids!) Regarding TLJ, I am looking forward to seeing the SW past and present coming together to create the next generation of Jedi. I believe there is always Light and Dark so there will always be Jedi and Sith/Non-Jedi of some description. Congrats on a really nice site, I shall visit more often in future.

  2. What I fear most about and and all new Star Wars episodes, trilogy’s, etc. is:
“Character Overload”—and—new characters, or creatures, that are 95% “fillers” or irrelevant!
Capt. Phasma and Gen. Hux barely need to be there at all. Focus on Luke, Rey and Snoke.

C-3-PO never needed to be there at all. The story could just as easily have been told without him. Jar Jar Binks was just plain stupid and “lowered” the movie. And now we have “porgs”. I’d be very very sparing on introducing new creatures. They were overused in the “pt.3, the movie where Darth Vader was redeemed by Luke at the end. Stop trying too hard to appeal to the 10yr. olds in the audience. And no character overload. Less is more! Have a significant, and meaninful point, and part, in the movie, or don’t even be there.

    1. Yes! The porgs definitely worry me slightly. The ewoks were totally created to appeal to children and when I was a little girl I liked ewoks. Now that I’m a young adult ewoks are now just annoying talking teddy bears. I’m hoping the porgs don’t become this generation’s ewoks.
