So last night I was watching the World Series (congratulations to the Houston Astros by the way) and there was a commercial break. It was a regular commercial break until out of nowhere comes this tv spot of The Last Jedi that seemed like a new trailer because of all its new clips and enticing moments. I was stunned. I had no idea that a special tv spot of The Last Jedi would debut . If you haven’t seen it yet here it is. Enjoy!
Okay…there is a lot of old footage from the previous trailer that came out several weeks ago but the new footage is what makes this trailer so jaw-dropping.
First of all, they literally showed Luke entering the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon. That has so much emotional resonance because Luke hasn’t been in the iconic ship in years. He has had so many memories there and now Han Solo is dead, I mean you can see the sorrow on his face.
Secondly, we got the first wide shot of Snoke’s throne room and I am just awestruck. It’s so beautiful and different and fascinating all at once. And the Praetorian Guards standing guard, I’m so excited!!!!
Third, I loved seeing the extra Millenium Falcon action. What this shows us is that the Crait battle will happen sometime later in the film because the Millenium Falcon is obviously there which means Rey and Luke have most likely left the planet of Ach-To by that time. Exciting!
And finally, that last shot of Rey brandishing the blue lightsaber with determination. At first glance, it looks like she’s wielding the weapon against Luke due to the way they set up the final two clips of the tv spot but if you look closely she’s standing outside in the rain. So who is she supposedly about to strike down? Is it Kylo Ren? Has she bested him in combat yet again? Or is it someone or something else entirely?
LucasFilm has become the masters of secrecy. They show you new, enticing clips to satiate your thirst for new footage of The Last Jedi without revealing key plot points or simply the direction the film will go.
I’m still wondering why they won’t show the new characters, however. Are they that top secret where they can’t at least show a basic clip of possibly Rose’s face? Very interesting.
Well, this is the newest surprise from LucasFilm for The Last Jedi. I hope you enjoyed seeing this as much as I did and I thank you for reading. May the Force Be With You.
