The Ten Coolest Aliens in Star Wars

Star Wars is known mainly for its fantastic human characters and its wildly imaginative worlds and stories but a part of the reason why Star Wars is such an amazing franchise is because of the various species throughout its vast topography. And there are a LOT of incredible aliens in Star Wars. So, here are the ten aliens I find are the coolest in Star Wars. Enjoy!

10. The Infamous Sarlacc

databank_sarlacc_01_169_c5356bf9Ever since I saw Return of the Jedi I have been strangely fascinated by the Sarlacc. The fact that it digests its unfortunate victims over an agonizing thousand years is not only horrifying but kind of interesting. First of all, it shows that this terrifying creature has evolved to survive in the brutal, arid world of Tatooine due to its only having to eat every thousand years. Secondly, I would just love to know what exactly happens to the things it eats. I bet it would be horrifically fascinating.

9. Acklay

The Attack of the Clones is undoubtedly the worst Star Wars film ever made but it did have some interesting ideas within its horrendous facade such as the long and kind of awesome arena part. I have to admit, it’s one of my favorite parts out of all of the Star Wars movies and this alien, the acklay, is my favorite creature that Obi-Wan, Padme, and Anakin had to face. It’s like the largest, scariest mantis you could ever see and it’s one of the most unique creatures I’ve ever seen in any film.

8. Dathomirians

The Dathomirians are so cool to me, mainly because Darth Maul was so awesome but that’s exactly the point. Darth Maul enthralled me when I was a child because of his horns, his tattoos, and his yellow eyes and sharp teeth. I had never seen anyone like him and I still think he’s one of the coolest characters to  be created in Star Wars to date. And then, thanks to books and cartoons, the story of the Dathomirians has expanded and now I know the aliens just that much better now.

7. Jawas

Jawas are rather adorable in my opinion and they are so mysterious inside of those brown cloaks of theirs. I bet if I saw these aliens without their cloaks it would probably be the most terrifying moment I’ve ever seen in Star Wars.

6. Chagrians

Mas Amedda was Palpatine’s trusted right-hand man throughout the long, tyrannic years of the Empire and I always thought he was one of the coolest aliens in Star Wars. He’s got those tentacles and that blue skin and he always looked so intense and stern all of the time. The prequels might have not been that great but there was a lot of unique and rather awesome creativity behind those three films.

5. Pau’ans

These aliens are so amazing to me. I love the clothing they wear, I love the lines in their skin, I love their red rimmed eyes. I remember watching the behind-the-scenes of Revenge of the Sith and the actor who was the main Pau’an was getting his makeup done to be the alien. It was so amazing watching them draw the lines on his face and transform him into these fascinating beings out of the galaxy of Star Wars.

4. Kaminoans

When I wrote a post about my favorite planets in Star Wars Kamino happened to be one of those planets, and for good reason. And the aliens native to that planet are just as incredible as the structures and environment that they live in. Their solid black eyes and lanky figures provide them a unique build and look that makes them extra special. And the fact that they are the ones who created the Clones make them one of the most important species in the galaxy. That’s pretty awesome.

3. Edrio Two Tubes

Edrio Two Tubes is undoubtedly one of the coolest aliens I have ever seen. He has that mask, his language sounds so gritty and perfectly matches the ancientness of Jedha, and he just looks rather cool. His scenes are few in Rogue One but whenever he is on screen he ultimately steals the show.

2. Maz Kanata

Maz is pretty much the Yoda of this trilogy and I think she’s so magnificent. I love her large glasses, I love that at first glance she looks like this old, diminutive creature but when you actually talk to her she’s one of the wisest beings you could ever meet. She’s also so ancient. She has lived longer than even Yoda and with her owning a cantina in the midst of the galaxy she has seen thousands upon thousands of faces and heard thousands of stories. Her role in The Force Awakens was small but very important and I think the same can be said about her probable role in The Last Jedi. The question is, however, what new knowledge will she have to share this time around.

1. Chewbacca

This was a pretty easy decision. I mean who doesn’t absolutely love Chewbacca and the Wookies period. Their planet, Kashyyk, is beautiful, they’re awesome, tall and hairy, and Chewbacca is simply hands down the coolest alien in Star Wars so far. If I was in the Star Wars universe I would totally want Chewbacca as my buddy because he’s just so lovable. And that crossbow of his is marvelously brutal.

Well, these are my ten favorite aliens. There were quite a few other aliens that didn’t make it on this list like Yoda, Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti, Thrawn, etc. but they didn’t stand out to me like these ten extraterrestrials did. And yes, Maz and Yoda are pretty similar but Yoda was unfortunately ruined by the prequels. And so, hence, this is the list that lies before you.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have an absolutely magnificent day. May the Force Be With You.
