It’s getting closer and closer until the day The Last Jedi finally comes out and we can get all our answers, well, answered but a new spread of photos from Entertainment Weekly for the highly-anticipated film have come out to help satiate our thirsts until that time. Enjoy and be warned…one of these pictures might be a HUGE SPOILER so I advise you to proceed with care.
This the first of four Entertainment Weekly covers and this happened to be the one I got today in the mail. And I’m so glad too. This is frankly my favorite of the four covers, for it implies so many things. It’s also just kind of wild seeing Kylo Ren and Rey on a magazine cover not facing against each other but instead standing as if together. And the sentence, Could REY Turn To The Dark Side? is so powerful and telling. Rey’s journey in The Last Jedi is, in the words of the wise Luke, “Not going to go the way we think.”
Seeing Finn and Rose solely on a cover together shows how close their relationship and collaboration will be in this movie. I’m so excited to see Finn’s story evolve and I can’t wait to get know Rose better. And BB-8 is so cute.
Wow, we finally get our first main photo of Laura Dern’s new character, Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and she’s literally on the cover of Entertainment Weekly! She’s obviously a much bigger character than I thought she would be. It looks like she’s going to be the new leader of the Resistance, of sorts, and that is ultimately shocking. It’s also nice seeing Poe with such a prominent position in The Last Jedi after him having such a menial role in The Force Awakens.
This is a Barnes & Noble Exclusive for an obvious reason. Everyone’s wondering if Luke and Leia will reunite in The Last Jedi and this cover only accentuates that question. Carrie Fisher unfortunately passed away last December and that left a massive hole in the galaxy of Star Wars. The huge question that we all have is, will Luke and Leia actually see each other one last time in this movie? If they don’t I’d pretty much be devastated. I’m hoping they do end up seeing each other.
This is a rather simple photo but it tells so many things. It tells us that the Milennium Falcon will, as we already know, leave Ach-To, but the question is, who’s aboard it? Secondly, it tells us figuratively that this movie is heading to new horizons.
Rey is seen in this photo wielding her newly owned lightsaber but what is she wielding it against? Is it Luke, is it Kylo Ren, is it something else entirely? We, thankfully, don’t have much time left until the movie comes out so this question won’t be nagging me for nearly two years straight.
We get another picture with one of the newest characters, Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and while it doesn’t show anything special it still excites me.
This is just simply a beautiful photo. Seeing Rey practicing with her lightsaber from Luke’s vantage point is kind of amazing. It’s also a sign of how great the cinematography for this film is going to be. I know I keep saying it, but I’m so excited!
It’s said that General Leia treats super-pilot, Poe Dameron, like a surrogate son, especially that she lost her own son to the dark side. In The Last Jedi their relationship is going to be explored much further and this picture highlights that. I have a feeling their companionship in this movie is going to be very beautiful to watch.
Finn and Rose, in this picture, are in the luxurious world of Canto Bight and as you can see, it’s a beautiful place with beautifully dressed people everywhere. Finn and Rose are very out of place here and I can’t wait to see what they’ll exactly be up to here in this new world. I’m also eager to see their team dynamic in the movie. In The Force Awakens it was Finn and Rey, now it seems like that ship has sailed and now it’s Finn and Rose. That’s so exciting.
Okay…brace for it. This next and final picture is going to be a doozy.
Here it is. I think it’s safe to say that Rey and Kylo Ren are going to team up. I mean, look at this picture. It’s obviously the throne room where Snoke resides and Rey isn’t looking like she’s about to fight the evil, wrinkled leader of the First Order. Is this picture showing the moment where she pledges herself to the dark side? And Kylo Ren is just standing there in the background. Did he bring her to there to help convert her to the evil side of the Force?
Oh my gosh, this is incredible. It’s not even a secret anymore! It’s pretty much official that Rey and Kylo Ren are teammates now. That also shows, however, that this isn’t the shocking reveal of this movie. So what is the reveal going to be that’s going to change this franchise forever?
Well, these are all of the photos that were shown in the latest Entertainment Weekly and I loved them all. Not only were there all of these fantastic pictures but there were incredible interviews by the actors themselves that brought some serious insight into the movie. You should definitely get one of these Entertainment Weekly issues because it’s very awesome. If you’re a Star Wars fan you’ll absolutely love it.
I thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed all of these pictures. Have a great a day and May The Force Be With You.
