The Top Five Scenes in ‘Star Wars’

Star Wars movies are chock full of memorable moments, from The Phantom Menace all the way to the franchise’s latest addition, Rogue One. That’s a lot of incredible scenes to choose from but I’m here to narrow it down to the five scenes that have made me the happiest. Enjoy!

5. Obi-Wan/Jango Fett Over Geonosis

I know the prequel trilogy isn’t very popular, and for good reason, but not everything about the prequels was terrible. In fact, those three films had a lot of very cool stuff woven throughout the story and this scene happened to be one of those cool things.

I was a child who grew up on the prequels so before I knew anything about Luke, Leia, and Han I was watching the story of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme. Even when I was a little girl I didn’t like The Attack of the Clones very much but this scene was easily one of my favorites. First, I love Jango Fett’s ship, Slave I. It’s clearly one of the best ships in Star Wars. Secondly, there aren’t a lot of one-on-one dogfights in Star Wars and this one is so awesome! I especially love when he releases those special bombs from the Slave I, I forgot what they’re called, and they caused all of that massive destruction that Obi-Wan had to avoid. It was, and still is, so much fun to watch.

4. Jedha’s Destruction

I’ve always wondered just exactly what it looks like when a Death Star destroys a planet. The Force Awakens gave us a first look at how frightening that experience is but Rogue One took that to a whole other level. This happened to be one of my favorite scenes in Rogue One because it was so amazing. The music, the way the ground turns in on itself, everything about that part covers me in chills and makes me so happy.

3. Darth Vader’s Rampage

Yes, it’s another scene from Rogue One but there was no way I wasn’t putting this scene in my top five. I still remember how I felt when I first saw this scene. Everybody had just died, it seemed like the movie was drawing to a close, and then Darth Vader showed up ready to do some serious damage. I couldn’t believe it. Was this really happening? Was I really seeing Darth Vader in all of his terrifying glory? I still watch this scene with wide eyes and a gaped mouth, that’s how amazing it is. If there is ever a Darth Vader-centered film I would be one of the happiest people on Earth.

2. “No, I am your father.”

This is, of course, one of the most iconic moments in film history. Back when The Empire Strikes Back came out there wasn’t access to spoilers, rumors and leaks like we have today. That means the majority of everyone who went to see this movie had no idea the bomb that was going to be dropped during this film. I, unfortunately, didn’t get that experience because, like I said earlier, I was a prequel baby, but this scene is still impactful and easily one of the greatest scenes of all time.

1. When Rey Finds Luke

This, to me, is my favorite scene in Star Wars for so many different reasons. One, The Phantom Menace and A New Hope were both the first entries in their respective trilogies and they had very happy endings. The Force Awakens was the first entry to start a trilogy that didn’t have a jovial ending. That already showed that this trilogy was going to be different than the two before it.

Two, Rey’s journey was a blast to follow throughout the film and by the end she is a completely different person than the lonely scavenger she was at the beginning of the movie. When she finds Luke it is a very powerful moment, for viewers and her.

I mean look at this picture. Her face tells it all. She’s frightened but determined to follow the path the Force has taken her on and it has led her to Luke, this myth, this legend.

Three, it’s a perfect cliffhanger to leave the movie on. The music is superb and I love that this location was real. They weren’t standing in front of a green screen, this was a real place where they filming and it makes that scene that much better.

I love that The Last Jedi is starting immediately after The Force Awakens and with December 15th drawing closer by the second this scene is becoming more and more exciting to watch.

Well, these are my five favorite scenes in Star Wars. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day. May the Force Be With You…Always.

  1. Hi Annlyel, great selection you’ve picked. Boba Fett’s ship, Slave One released mines called “Seismic Charges”, a bit like Earth based depth charges. And they are particularly nasty and loud. Though I have to say I love that sound effect, it seems like the sound gets sucked in then released in an almighty “CLANGGGGGG!” Another little cool factoid, Slave One was designed to slightly resemble an elephant’s head, with the wings as it’s ears and the weapons tail section being the trunk.(Though it might look a bit like a Toydarian to others!) Thanks again for a good read.
