It’s Only Two Weeks Until ‘The Last Jedi’!

Before 2015, the year The Force Awakens came out, December 1 wasn’t that special of a day. Yes, it marked the beginning of the last month of the year but, besides that, December 1 has usually been a regular day. This year December 1 has a much larger meaning because it marks the two-week countdown until The Last Jedi. This is a huge moment for Star Wars fans and I’m utterly ecstatic. It feels like it was yesterday when I wrote a post celebrating the one month mark. Now it’s literally only a couple of weeks until the movie comes out! Wow. So, I’m going to write about all of the things I’m excited to see in this highly anticipated film. Enjoy!

Rey’s Story

Rey’s incredible journey in The Force Awakens was an absolute blast to observe. At the beginning of Episode VII she was just a simple scavenger and now she is the galaxy’s next hope. Her path in this movie will undoubtedly get much tougher and I’m excited to see which direction of the Force she chooses. Thanks to interviews and magazines it’s kind of destined for her to join Kylo Ren at some point in the film but what does that exactly mean? Will she turn to the dark side or will she truly embrace the concept of a grey Jedi? And will we finally find out her who her parents are? Thankfully I have only two weeks to find out.

Finn’s Journey/Finn vs. Phasma

Finn was left grievously injured in The Force Awakens but thanks to some incredible medical technology he will be healed and he will return as the “big deal” that he has truly become. I’m excited to see his journey in the movie and, of course, I can’t wait for the imminent showdown between Finn and his former boss, Captain Phasma.

Their rivalry began early in The Force Awakens and the moment is soon to come when the fight between them comes to fruition. I know for a fact that the duel is going to be epic and I can’t wait to see the outcome.

Will Kylo Ren Be Redeemed?

Kylo Ren performed an act of pure evil by killing his father, Han Solo, to truly convert to the dark side. The question is, did he really go to the dark side or was him murdering his father the defining moment that will eventually turn him back to the light side? You would think Kylo Ren would be a pure villain after the events of The Force Awakens but he seems to be more confused in The Last Jedi than he was in the previous film. Maybe his contact with General Leia will change him and turn him back into a good person? We’ll see what happens.

Rose’s Story

Rose is a simple mechanic, a person behind the scenes, so what events are going to force her to come to the forefront of this story? For her to go on a secret mission with Finn means that whoever provides her this duty obviously trusts her. I can’t wait to figure out just exactly who she is and I’m excited to see her evolve throughout the movie.

Who Exactly Is Snoke?

Snoke was as mysterious as a person could get in The Force Awakens. He only appeared as a hologram and still you could barely see him in the darkness. Will his identity finally be revealed in The Last Jedi? I hope so.

How Will Poe Evolve In This Film?

Poe’s role in The Force Awakens was minor but his charm and wit made him an instant fan favorite. In The Last Jedi his involvement in the film will be much larger and his leadership skills will be put to the test. I can’t wait to see his character’s progression throughout the movie and I hope he doesn’t die.

Luke’s Story

Thirty years before the events of The Force Awakens Luke was in the exact same shoes that Rey is in now. He was the young dreamer who ended up on a fascinating journey through the cosmos, he discovered the Force, and he became the galaxy’s next hero.

Now it’s thirty years into the future and Luke has disappeared. When Rey finds him he’s no longer the hero that he was. He’s instead a broken man beat down by the losses and mistakes he has made. I mean he, the legendary Luke Skywalker, wasn’t able to keep his only nephew, his beloved sister’s son, from turning to the dark side. That’s pretty rough. For him he feels like he’s failed. Now the First Order is spreading across the galaxy and in his mind he feels that the galaxy is better without him.

Then this stranger, this girl, shows up out of nowhere brandishing his family’s lightsaber in her hand. He doesn’t know whether to be angry, sad, or simply confused. At the beginning of The Last Jedi he’s going to be the grumpy hermit that he has become but by the end will he return to being the hero that we know him to be?

The Lightsaber Duels

Ligthsaber duels are a crucial part of Star Wars and it’s the one thing hasn’t been shown in the trailers or tv spots for The Last Jedi. Why is that the case? Are the lightsaber duels so incredible that they won’t even show us one tiny clip of one? That’s actually very exciting because that means when I do see the duel between either Kylo Ren and Rey or possibly even Luke and Kylo Ren it’s going to be that much more special because I will have never seen that scene before.

As you can probably tell I am super excited for this movie. I’m anxiously counting down the days until December 15 because that’s how much I can’t wait to see The Last Jedi.

And tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live basically everybody from The Last Jedi is going to be on the show. There’s going to be Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Kelly Marie Tran, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Laura Dern, and I think that’s it. Basically, it’s going to be a Star Wars extravaganza. And you know they’re going to show an exclusive clip of the actual movie so if you’re a Star Wars fan you definitely won’t want to miss it.

I thank you for reading my post celebrating the two-week mark and I hope you have a lovely day. May the Force Be With You.

  1. Hi Annlyel, I am with you, I can’t wait for the big day. Regarding the Lightsaber duels I have seen behind the scenes footage of Daisy rehearsing a fight scene with the Stunt Graflex. The exciting fact though, is that the choreography didn’t match her fight scene in TFA and in the rehearsal she was fighting off MORE THAN ONE OPPONENT!(Sorry for raising my voice there I’m excited 😀 ) Whether this fight is in TLJ, I don’t know but if it is…. it will be an epic scene!
