Stormtroopers are a staple in Star Wars. You could say they’re more popular than the lightsaber. Throughout the Star Wars films there have been tons of different versions of these white clad soldiers and I’m here to discover which rendition of the iconic stormtrooper I think is the greatest. Enjoy!
The Kashyyk Clone Troopers
These are my least favorite troopers because they don’t look that great to me, simple as that.
These troopers have never really stood out to me. Their style is frankly kind of ugly, if I’m being honest. But they’re okay, I guess.
While I do love the Clone Troopers the reason why they’re my least favorite is because they’re mostly CGI. There is, of course, the actor who played Jango Fett who wore the clone trooper armor but instead of getting extras to make a more believable clone army they took the lazy approach and just CGI-ed the army. It’s disappointing and it is the unfortunate story of the prequels.
Rogue One came up with two new versions of the classic stormtroopers and the shoretroopers are exciting because there had never been a trooper designed for a sandy environment before. That’s why Rogue One is such an amazing film. They brought new things we had never seen to Star Wars and that’s always an incredible feat.
Red Clone Troopers
Even though I’m not a fan of clone troopers this version of the troopers is definitely my favorite. I mean I literally have a toy of one of these troopers and it was one of my favorite toys by the way. These troopers will always have a special place in my heart.
First Order Stormtroopers
The First Order stormtroopers, while they are great because these soldiers finally have a backstory and have been given a face thanks to Finn, they are kind of boring to look at. They’re not as frightening as the classic stormtroopers but they are cool. They do represent the style of the First Order though because they’re much smoother and more polished looking than the Empire’s mindless soldiers and that’s awesome.
First Order Stormtrooper Executioner
I haven’t seen these troopers in action yet but I have no doubt that this trooper will become one of my favorites.
These are, of course, the iconic stormtroopers and they are definitely one of the best versions. The armor is perfect, the helmet is impeccable, and they are wonderfully simple. There might be many different versions of the evil soldiers but these are undoubtedly the classics.
First Order Snowtroopers
I love snowtroopers and these First Order snowtroopers are incredibly awesome looking. I love the thin slits in their helmets. It gives them a menacing look. And I love their style. They’re pretty awesome.
First Order Flametroopers
I remember when I watched The Force Awakens for the first time and I saw these new flametroopers. I was so excited. It’s always fun seeing new versions of the iconic white clad soldiers and this was definitely one of the best renditions. It’ll be interesting to see if they’ll appear again in The Last Jedi.
These troopers aren’t as flashy as the First Order version but they’re better to me. I think the reason why I love these troopers so much is because of their entrance into the movie. They literally showed up in the rebellion’s base on Hoth in tow with one of the coolest villains ever! Darth Vader. That part is so awesome and it always makes me very happy. If I was going to dress up as a trooper for Halloween I’d probably dress as a snowtrooper.
First Order Riot Control Stormtroopers
When I saw this stormtrooper for the first time I completely lost it. A stormtrooper with a handheld shock weapon! What!!!! It was one of the most incredible things I had ever seen in a Star Wars film and that part in The Force Awakens still makes me excited to this day. Hopefully these troopers will have some more action in The Last Jedi.
Imperial Death Troopers
This is undoubtedly my favorite version of the infamous stormtrooper. First, their armor is all black. How awesome is that?! Secondly, there’s a reason why these troopers have the word Death in their title. They’re the only troopers that could actually shoot their targets and it’s horrifically fascinating.
What comes to mind when I think of this fact is the part in Rogue One when the Death Troopers are put into battle and as the rebels are trying to get to cover in a crashed ship the troopers mow them down as they shoot from behind a sand dune. There’s never been a Star Wars film that killed its good people so easily. Those poor rebels couldn’t do anything against the death troopers and I loved it. *wince* Does that sound bad?
These troopers were so amazing and it’s kind of sad to think that their only appearance might’ve been in one movie. Hopefully they’ll make at least a cameo appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
And third, these troopers had the absolute best sound. All troopers, up until Rogue One, could be heard when they talked but these troopers’ muffled voices made them even that much scarier. I think it’s going to be a while before any other trooper will top these incredibly awesome Death Troopers.
Well, that’s my list. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a marvelous day.
