Iron Man was the hero who kick started the MCU with a fantastic film in Iron Man that would end up being the perfect beginning to a new age in blockbuster cinema. Now ten years and nineteen movies later Iron Man has changed quite a bit through the years. Not only has Tony Stark endured challenges both physically and mentally but his suit has continuously upgraded through this entire experience and so I’m going to share with you his five best Iron Man designs. Enjoy!
5. The Avengers
Iron Man’s suit in The Avengers is of course cool but it isn’t my favorite design. The overall look is simple and easy to recognize with the class maroon and gold color. I like that the glowing energy core in the middle of his suit in this film is triangular rather than circular which helps make it stand out. And then the overall design is just simply nice. There’s just nothing about this rendition that makes it pop.
4. Iron Man
How would have Iron Man been received if the actual Iron Man suit had looked terrible? Avengers: Infinity War probably wouldn’t be around if that first film had flopped but it didn’t and one of those reasons is because the design of Iron Man was so perfectly brought to the big screen. Not only is this design clearly one of the best because it is the first look and it’s actually one of the coolest looks for the maroon and gold character but it brings me back memories when I saw fleeting glimpses of the Iron Man for the first time as a child. At that time I wasn’t old enough to watch the Iron Man movies all the way through but I was able to see bits and pieces of the films and I just remember being so wowed by this incredible superhero. He was so much cooler than Superman or Spider-Man and even Batman in that time of my life and it’s why I think I will always have a special place in my heart for the genius-playboy-billionaire-philanthropist.
3. Avengers: Infinity War
While it was undoubtedly exciting seeing this brand new nano-tech Iron Man suit it isn’t my favorite look of his and this is why. At times I loved the fact that Iron Man had so many toys and abilities to work with in Avengers: Infinity War but I happen to like the classic Iron Man a little bit more simply because there is never a definitive explanation in the movie for how his suit has become so different. In fact, the suit’s almost alien-like with all of its morphing abilities. I mean, did he get this new technology from the Wakandans or was this just a new resource that he found useful for his suit? Now I do like how sleek the actual suit is. It provides a less bulky design which is always cool but it just doesn’t happen to be my favorite Iron Man suit.
2. Captain America: Civil War
There’s something perfectly simple and yet perfectly extraordinary about this suit’s design. Maybe it’s the round, smooth head shape or the weaving of the gold through the suit. Then again maybe it’s just the CGI. Whatever the case this suit is undoubtedly one of my favorites because there’s something about its impeccable lack of bulkiness that makes this suit so much better than some of his other designs he’s created so far. This is definitely one of my favorites.
1. Iron Man 3
Even though Iron Man 3 isn’t one of the best Marvel films I think they definitely succeeded in making the Iron Man suit, or suits, at their best. This design is absolutely fantastic. I love that there’s more of the golden color than the maroon throughout the suit which makes it look delightfully different and it’s definitely my favorite suit of his. And on top of that, he had so many other incredible prototype suits as well.
I just recently watched Iron Man 3 after not having seen it in years and I was totally blown away by all of the incredible Iron Man designs and prototypes that he made. This was Iron Man at his finest, in my opinion, and it’s kind of a shame that he didn’t continue to create those incredible suits but that was part of the development of his character in the lead up to Infinity War and I couldn’t be happier.
All in all, I LOVE Iron Man! He’s been a fantastic superhero since he arrived ten years ago and if he does depart from the MCU after Avengers 4 it’s going to undoubtedly be sad to see him go.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
