‘The Return of the King’: The Extended Edition

Late last year I wrote a post about the Extended Editions for The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers and now I’ve recently come into possession of the Extended Edition for Oscar-winning The Return of the King and I’m here to talk about how incredible of an experience it was to watch. Enjoy!

I watch The Lord of the Rings all of the time but I haven’t seen The Return of the King for a couple of years or so and that helped make this such a fun experience to watch the Extended Edition. One of the reasons why The Lord of the Rings is one of the greatest trilogies of all time is because every single film is 100% superb and the third and final installment is no exception. Peter Jackson took a story and brought to an epic, climactic finale with this film that’ll make you cheer and cry, laugh and stare at the screen in slack-jawed awe, and get so many chills sometimes it’ll bring a tear to the eye.

And the Extended Edition is AMAZING! The Return of the King is already a whopping 3 hours and 21 minutes but with the extension it becomes a stunning 4 hours and 23 minutes of Lord of the Rings brilliance. That’s over an hour of extra footage! And it’s very apparent as the film is filled to the brim with new, exciting footage that actually manages to enhance the movie. In fact, I don’t think I’ll be able to watch the original version anymore because the extended version helped make the movie so much better.

My Conclusion of the Film

All in all, if you are a fan of The Lord of the Rings you should definitely check the extended edition of The Return of the King out because it is totally worth it. It’s undoubtedly 5 out of 5 stars and 100 out of a 100 (yeah, it’s that good.)

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day.
