The Top Ten Scenes in Marvel

In the past ten years Marvel Studios has presented seventeen! movies, all with their own style, own stories, and there have been countless incredible scenes between them all. Today I’m going to share with you my ten favorite scenes that have come from the movies that have spanned nearly half my lifetime. Enjoy!

10. Vision Comes To Life (Avengers: Age of Ultron)

Paul Bettany and Chris Evans in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

Avengers: Age of Ultron wasn’t one of the best Marvel movies but it had one of the greatest surprises for me; Vision. One of my favorite things in a movie is a surprise you don’t see coming and I definitely didn’t see this coming. I remember watching the movie and as Thor electrified the case holding Ultron’s experiment robot with lightning he was residing in I was waiting to see what would happen. When Vision popped out of that container not as a villain but rather as an ally I was shocked.

And then…he grabbed Thor’s hammer and handed it to him! Mind blown! I was utterly stunned. Who was this remarkably powerful superhero that I had no idea about? And he had Jarvis’s voice! It was profoundly one of the greatest surprises I have ever seen in a movie and it’s why this is one of my favorite scenes.

9. The ‘Doctor Strange’ Ending

Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange (2016)

Doctor Strange was filled with mind bending visuals, hilarious moments, and great action scenes but my favorite part of the movie is literally the quietest moment of the film. Doctor Strange has helped save the world, he hasn’t officially taken the role of the Ancient One but he now stands guard over the New York Sanctum, and it’s just a really silent moment as he realizes the responsibility he now has. The cinematography is beautiful, the music is special, and as the camera zooms out and you see the Sanctum against the backdrop of New York I always get chills. And now, after Avengers: Infinity War, this scene is all the more magical as we now know what takes place in Doctor Strange’s journey a couple of years down the road and that’s an exciting realization.

8. Captain America Turns Rogue (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

This scene isn’t very important, I mean it’s when Captain America goes rogue after Secretary Pierce got his Hydra minions to try to kill him, but the main reason why I love this scene is simply because of the music. It gives the scene such a heroic feeling and seeing Captain America take down that Hydra plane by himself is awesome! This scene just makes me really, really happy.

7. Thor Fights the Fire Monster and his Minions (Thor: Ragnarok)

Clancy Brown and Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Thor: Ragnarok started with a bang by having one of the coolest and funniest scenes I’ve seen in the MCU so far. It was immediately revealed that this wasn’t going to be your typical epic Thor movie as Thor cracked jokes as he spun around and around in his hanging, chained position. And then, after freeing himself, watching Thor fight with his awesome hammer against the backdrop of Led Zeppelin singing was pretty off the chain. It was the perfect way to start the movie and it’s one of the reasons this film has become one of my favorite Marvel films so far.

6. A Shocking Truth (Captain America: Civil War)

Captain America: Civil War is one of the best told stories in the MCU so far. The story line kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire film and this scene was the bombshell of the movie. To find out Bucky was the person who murdered Tony’s parents was utterly shocking and it really put the movie into a darkness rarely seen in the MCU’s films. It deeply fractured Captain America and Iron Man’s friendship and I don’t think they’ll ever be good friends again.

5. The Winter Soldier Attacks (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

Sebastian Stan in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is my favorite Marvel film because there are so many incredible action scenes in this movie and this is one of them. The Winter Soldier was actually a villain worth getting a little afraid of and he gave Captain America and Black Widow a run for their money. It was one of the few times that you actually saw them having trouble against a foe because the Winter Soldier’s skill set was as exceptional as theirs. It made this scene that much more enjoyable. And watching Steve Roger fight Bucky in a tense, ugly duel was the highlight of the scene.

4. The Avengers Assemble (The Avengers)

While The Avengers seems super old and lame compared to the Marvel movies now this scene is still very special to me because it’s the first time these heroes came together in a single shot and its super epic. This movie really changed my view of these superhero films and because of how monumental this film was it’s the reason why The Avengers is one of the highest grossing films of all time.

This scene still has a special place in my heart and it probably always will.

3. Spider-Man Gets Inducted into The Avengers (Spider-Man: Homecoming)

Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, and Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Spider-Man: Homecoming was a very, very enjoyable film and this scene is the icing on the cake. Watching Peter Parker become an Avenger is such a special moment that it makes me feel just as happy as him. And it’s the first time you get to see his Iron-Spider suit, which is AWESOME by the way.

I love this new Spider-Man so much and seeing him officially become an Avenger is really fantastic. Seeing him in action in Avengers: Infinity War was really one of the highlights of the film for me.

2. Reunited and First Meetings

The New York action sequence was undoubtedly really awesome with the fascinating character interplay between Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Wong, and a struggling Bruce Banner but what really hit my core was the dialogue interactions just before that. We get some hilarious back and forth banter between Doctor Strange and Tony Stark which helps provide many laughs to lighten the situation but the moment that is really one of the best acted scenes in the movie is when Tony has to catch up Bruce Banner on what’s happened in the last few years.

For Bruce Banner the last time he was on Earth he was fighting alongside The Avengers on Sokovia. Jump forward three years later and to learn that The Avengers were, according to Tony, “toast” was a major shock for the scientist. When Bruce tells Tony to let go of his grudge because this threat in Thanos is the real deal and that Thor’s gone anyway the mere emotion on Tony’s face is so real and heartfelt. If he could have he would’ve never spoken to Steve Rogers again for the rest of his life but here, in this vital moment, having to call him for help was an extremely hard decision for him. It’s one of my favorite scenes in Infinity War and it’s why it’s undoubtedly one of the best superhero films ever made.

1. Thanos Wins

Thanos was truly worth the six year wait. He was powerful, a villain that you can kind of, horrifically, understand, and just a space juggernaut. Throughout Avengers: Infinity War the writers made it seem like the heroes were going to prevail despite the might of Thanos because I just couldn’t fathom them losing. When Thanos arrived in Wakanda it was a definite “Oh snap” moment. He had five of the Infinity Stones, which he was using at will, and he was after Vision’s.

This scene not only possessed one of the most emotional moments in the movie as Scarlet Witch had to kill the man she loved but it also included the single biggest shocker in the film as Thanos retrieved the Mind Stone and managed to snap his fingers, wiping out half of the galaxy in the process. I’ve seen a lot of cliffhangers but this one was undoubtedly one of the greatest I have ever seen. In fact, I’m getting chills just thinking about it. I can’t wait to own this movie on Blu-Ray one day so I can watch this scene as many times as I want. 🙂

Well, this is the newest list of my favorite ten Marvel scenes and I have a feeling it’s going to be a while before it’s updated again. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
