The 3 Ways ‘Avengers 4’ Can Be Better Than ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Avengers: Infinity War had a lot of expectations. For years Marvel Studios had been building up a complex, interconnected field of movies that were all leading to one epic showdown; our heroes facing Thanos. Infinity War easily could’ve been an underwhelming experience and instead it met nearly all my expectations. Thanos was actually worth the six year wait, we got to see some great team ups between characters that otherwise would’ve probably never met, and we got an intense two and a half hour story that led to one of the most shocking cliffhangers that I’ve ever seen. Infinity War was so good it has raised a nearly impossible bar to surpass, financially wise and storywise, and yet it’s already been said from the cast and directors that the next film is going to wow us in even more unexpected ways. *chuckling* Really? Avengers 4 is going to be more surprising than Infinity War? Uh-oh, I’m nervous. But besides the shock factors what other elements will the movie need to surpass its predecessor. Well, that’s what I’m here to share with you. Enjoy!

1. More Action

When I went to see Infinity War for the first time I was expecting action scenes galore but surprisingly this film ended up being one of the least action-filled movies in the MCU. There was fantastic action here and there but there is a giant gap that focuses primarily on story line and dialogue between the film’s characters and it was kind of shocking. The first time I watched the movie those quieter scenes were awesome but during my second viewing I was, I have to admit, a little bored. It takes a long while for anything to happen and when you already know what’s coming like the bubble gun gag or Gamora’s death or Thor’s weapon forging those scenes can be a tad uninteresting.

If Avengers 4 is going to be better than Infinity War then that means the action needs to be greater and I think that’s totally possible, especially with the help of a certain hero who I’m about to talk about in this next section.

2. Captain Marvel

Marvel Studios has already been announced that Captain Marvel is going to be the new lead hero of this next phase the MCU is about to venture into and I couldn’t be more excited. We’re set to get an idea of who her character is next March as her standalone film comes out and then shortly after that she’ll come to the rescue of our desperate heroes in Avengers 4. Simply her involvement in the film is going to give Avengers 4 a chance to be a GREAT film, for Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful heroes of all time and I can’t wait to see her use that power against the mighty Thanos. Ooh, it’s gonna be awesome.

3. A More Legitimate Climax

While Infinity War did end with quite the bang (or snap) its climax was somewhat too much of a shock as it begs to be reversed in some sort of way…or maybe not. Who knows? Whatever the case it was a fantastic ending but if this is to be the end of a three-phase era that started with Iron Man in 2008 we need to feel that climax with either a resounding hammer on the franchise nail or a devastating blow that leaves us even more shaken than before. Great movie series sometimes can leave you stunned and asking for more and I want this movie to push us into a new era that finally rids us of Iron Man, Captain America, possibly The Hulk, and maybe even Thor. Like Kylo Ren said in The Last Jedi, “Let the past die” and I’m meaning this literally.

How many more times are we going to be teased with the possible deaths of these pioneering heroes before we just get tired of the suspense? It’s clear knowledge that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth’s contracts will be up after Avengers 4 which can only mean one thing. Their characters are finally going to run out of luck but hopefully not without saving the world first.

Of course, I have no idea what tricks Marvel has up their sleeves with this next film. I mean, it’s being kept so under wraps that the mere title of the movie still hasn’t been released after being in theaters nearly two months since it made its worldwide debut. I could’ve never imagined Thanos actually acquiring all six infinity stones and wiping out half of the galaxy and that’s why I was so gloriously surprised. Maybe Marvel will unleash another downright unforeseeable twist that’ll leave fans just as confused.

Whatever the case, I’m super excited for Avengers 4 next year and I can’t wait to see what the mysterious title will be. 🙂

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

  1. Good list, Annlyel! I agree with you about one or more of the “original six” Avengers possibly passing away in the next Avengers film. I was one of the many people who thought that Captain America was going to get defeated by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Boy, was I wrong about that. For me, what would make Avengers 4 better than Avengers: Infinity War is the following:

    A. Bucky being brought back from “disappearing” completely unaffected.
    B. Someone confirming that Bucky has been cured.
    C. Bucky becoming the next Captain America.
    D. All of the above

    1. Lol. I know! We need more Bucky! After that post-credits scene in ‘Black Panther’ I was so ready to see Bucky in action as this cured Avenger and he didn’t really do anything. Let’s hope for more Bucky (and Rocket) action next time around. 🙂
