After fourteen years of waiting and wondering and finally accepting that there would never be a sequel to The Incredibles Disney made another dream of mine come to reality with the long awaited Incredibles II. When the Disney logo opened with the classic Incredibles music playing it was like a nostalgia bomb had been dropped on my senses and I became awash in happiness. Yeah baby!
The movie starts basically where the last film stopped which was expected and takes viewers on a fun family adventure as Elastigirl goes to bring superheroes legal again and Mr. Incredible becomes a stay-at-home dad.
Baby Jack Jack steals the show as his powers slowly evolve throughout the movie and leaves you surprised at every turn by how incredibly powerful he is. He’s also the main comic relief of the film. I mean, he’s 100% hilarious.
Elastigirl is given plenty of chances to shine as she saves the day over and over again. Her action scenes are easily the best parts of the movie.
And the villain, Screenslaver, is actually an antagonist who struck a bit of fear in me despite it being an animated film. One of the reasons why The Incredibles was such a great movie was because the villain caused quite the conundrum for the heroes and Screenslaver is easily a better villain than nearly half the Marvel villains.
The music for the movie is also well composed and retains that heroic aspect that made the first one so lovable.
The action, like I said before, is brilliant and are definitely the best parts of the movie. In fact, the action is so good that now I see why it was brought out in IMAX. It was quite loud and impressive indeed. *thumbs up*
