I’ve only recently gotten into Star Wars books in the last year and it’s been like finding a jackpot of fictional material. In fact, Star Wars books have become my new favorite thing to read in the fictional side of things. So, imagine how I excited I became when I found out that a ton of new Star Wars books that would be arriving within the next year was announced at SDCC? I am ecstatic! So, to share with you all my excitement, here are some of the books that really caught my eye. Enjoy!
Star Wars: Thrawn Alliances
I haven’t gotten around to the Thrawn series yet but this book intrigues me simply because it has an awesome cover. I definitely have to catch up with his story before this book comes out.
Women of the Galaxy
Oh. My. Goodness! This book is so cool!!! Women have become a very important staple to the fabric of the Star Wars universe and to see a book celebrating these powerful and brave women is simply extraordinary. This has definitely gained a spot on my must-have list. 🙂
It’s about time! Padme was so awesome in The Phantom Menace and then her story was cut abruptly short as George Lucas deemed to prioritize Anakin’s growth and development over hers. She transformed from being a strong queen who doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do to a sappy, Anny-calling damsel-in-distress. It was terrible. Padme is a forgettable character for no reason other than poor writing.
Well, this book will change that narrative and we will get the chance to read a story about her facing and prevailing over obstacles with the aid of her own wits and awesomeness. And the cover is simply gorgeous. This is definitely another must-have.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
I love obtaining the novel versions of the Star Wars movies and to see that it is extended just like The Last Jedi was is even more exciting. Solo was a fabulous film that really made me happy for all of the above reasons. To know that this book will elaborate even further on the movie’s story is downright incredible and I can’t wait to read it.
Master and Apprentice
And this is the final book that caught my attention because I saw that Claudia Gray is writing it. She wrote Bloodline and Phasma which were two incredible novels about two fierce and determined women, Leia Organa and Phasma, and now she’s tackling a story set in the prequel-era about Master Qui-Gon Jinn and Apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is such awesome news.
Qui-Gon has pretty much disappeared in the story of Star Wars since he died in The Phantom Menace and Obi-Wan Kenobi’s story before the days of The Phantom Menace is practically empty space. To see a book elaborate on this unknown time in these characters’ lives is SUPER exciting and once again this is another Star Wars book I can’t wait to read.
Lucasfilm is making me SO happy at SDCC this week. First, they announced that The Clone Wars would be returning (yay) and now they’ve announced all of these books? I couldn’t be more ecstatic (unless Marvel announced the official title of Avengers 4.) 🙂
There were plenty more books and comics that were announced as well. You can find them here at starwars.com. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day.
