Mulan is one of my favorite Disney animated films because of its inspiring tale of female heroism and its wonderful songs. Especially the song, “Reflection”. It’s undoubtedly one of my favorite Disney songs ever made. The movie is so good, in fact, that it got nominated for an Oscar (unsurprisingly.)
When Disney started making live-action versions of these iconic Disney animated movies I was seriously hoping that Mulan would end up being one of the live-action remakes. To my great delight, it is, and the first photo featuring the film has arrived. Here it is.
Yifei Liu will be playing the role of Mulan and it will feature an all-Asian cast (which it should.) Donnie Yen will be playing the mentor, Commander Tung. Jet Li is playing the Emperor. And Yoson An will be playing Chen Honghui who is a young recruit who turns out to be (spoiler-alert) Mulan’s love interest.
I like that they changed the idea of Mulan’s love interest being in a position of power over her. With them both being army recruits it sets them each at an equal playing field and I like that.
All in all, I can’t wait to see this movie and I can’t wait to learn a little more about Aladdin over the next year. I hope it’ll end up being a great movie. 🙂
I saw Mission: Impossible-Fallout a week ago and I can tell you, it’s still blowing my mind. I’ve seen a LOT of action movies but I’ve never seen an action film quite like this before. It was astounding to watch and an absolute treat. But this doesn’t dissuade from the other Mission: Impossible movies’ awesomeness. For over two decades Tom Cruise has taken the character, Ethan Hunt, to new locations, new heights (literally,) and new insane obstacles that seem, well, impossible to complete. And yet Ethan Hunt still finds ways to save the world, even if it comes at the last. Possible. Second. It’s the best!
But how do these films rank in this action-packed franchise? That’s what I’m here to share with you. Enjoy!
Mission: Impossible II
I watched Mission: Impossible II a few years ago and while it did possess one of Tom Cruise’s most jaw-dropping stunts in the franchise the movie was really, really bad. There was WAY too much slow-motion and a little bit too much smooching for my liking. It was so bad in fact that I’m kind of surprised they made a third Mission: Impossible film…but I’m glad they did. 🙂

This past January I updated my list of my fifteen favorite Star Wars characters and after recently revisiting that post it’s definitely time to change that list once again. Enjoy!
15. Vice Admiral Holdo
Holdo is unlike any other character that has appeared in Star Wars and that’s what makes her so unique. It’s always exciting seeing brand new characters that we can’t associate with someone we’ve seen before in the franchise and even though she was killed off in The Last Jedi she has still easily become one of my favorite characters in Star Wars.
14. Poe Dameron
Poe Dameron is easily the greatest pilot in the galaxy (besides Rey and Kylo Ren) and that makes such an awesome character to have in this current trilogy. He helps fill the void that Han Solo has left with his unfortunate death in The Force Awakens and yet he doesn’t feel like a carbon copy of the iconic Star Wars character. That’s always important.
