Yoda is one of the most beloved Star Wars characters for obvious reasons; he’s awesome. He’s, in my opinion, the wisest character in the franchise and this can be said as much from his memorable sayings. So, on that note, here are my five favorite quotes from the wizened Jedi master. Enjoy!
5. “We are what they grow beyond. That is the burden of all masters.”
The Last Jedi delivered a delightful Yoda cameo that reunited the deceased master with his former apprentice, Luke Skywalker. It was a fascinating moment the two characters shared after a three-decade hiatus and this quote pushed the idea that yes, the old ways of the Jedi were passing on, but that another generation of Jedi was rising.
4. “Begun the Clone Wars has.”
The prequels showcased the slow but imminent fall of the Republic and the end of Attack of the Clones displays the ultimate beginning of the end. It’s a haunting scene as Obi-Wan Kenobi praises the works of Palpatine for creating the clone army but Yoda knows this is not a good turn for the galaxy. Something was taking place that he couldn’t quite understand but he knew it was bad. Very, very bad. *shudder*
3. “No, there is another.”
Even though, as a child, I had been introduced to the prequels before the original trilogy and I understood that Luke and Leia were siblings there was still something remarkably magical when Yoda, watching Luke leave Dagobah, said this quote in response to Obi-Wan saying Luke was their last hope.
A recent revelation in the Star Wars universe is that Yoda actually wanted to train Leia. What would’ve that been like? It definitely makes for an interesting concept.
2. “Still looking on to the horizon.”
Like I said earlier in this post, seeing Yoda and an older Luke Skywalker reunited was one of the greatest surprises and joys provided by The Last Jedi. What I loved the most about this reunion was the humor Yoda displayed in seeing Luke again. To him Luke was still the same novice that he was when he first met him in Dagobah all those years ago and it was a beautiful interaction between the two Jedi.
This quote embodies that naivety Luke still possessed in The Last Jedi and it revealed how much Luke still had to learn. This is definitely one of my favorite Yoda scenes of all time.
“Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.”
I love this quote so much I use it in real life to motivate me if I’m tackling a new project or goal. It’s undoubtedly one of the coolest movie quotes ever conceived, in my opinion. And this is why Yoda is such a beloved character. He’s awesome; end of discussion.
So yeah, these are my favorite quotes from one of the coolest Jedi in Star Wars.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day. May the Force be with you.
