Spider-Man: Homecoming was a great movie but it was just the beginning of Peter Parker’s journey. Fast forward two years and here we are, just days away from getting a glimpse at the next stage of Peter, and the MCU’s, story moving forward into Phase 4. I’m ecstatic! And, with the world premiere transpiring on Wednesday night, the reviews are in and they are expectedly positive. It’s got a solid 90% on Rotten Tomatoes from 111 critics and a score of 8.5 out of 10 on IMDb. That’s even more reason to get excited!
I can’t wait to see what Marvel has up their sleeves and I can’t wait to share you with you my review. Until then, here are three reasons why I am so excited to see this movie.
1. Mysterio, duh
This is the most excited I’ve been for a new character since…hmm, to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to see a character in the MCU. One of my favorite things is characters derived from the Spider-Man comics. They are complex, well thought out, and always have the chance to steal the show. Jake Gyllenhaal is already stealing the show simply with that outfit, dang. And his powers. 😁
Whether he’s actually from another dimension or not we’ll have to wait and see but I CAN’T WAIT to learn more about this mysterious character.
2. Peter Parker’s Growth
Spider-Man: Homecoming was all about Peter Parker trying to prove himself to Tony Stark as a hero worthy of being an Avenger. By the film’s conclusion, he had impressed Stark enough to get the chance to become an Avenger but he turned it down, deciding to look out for the little guy and remain as a simple friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But when Thanos arrived he decided to join the fight and was officially inducted into The Avengers because, geez, what else was Tony Stark going to do? Then he died, was resurrected, and just when his relationship with Stark began to grow Iron Man sacrificed himself to save the universe.
Spider-Man: Far from Home sees Peter Parker dealing with that loss and how he will step up to fill the shoes Tony Stark left behind. This Spider-Man is clearly far more mature than the one who fangirled over Captain America in Captain America: Civil War and I’m excited to see just how far Peter has come.
3. The Post-Credits Scene
It’s already been confirmed that Spider-Man: Far from Home will feature two post-credit scenes and I have heard, from critics, that these scenes are truly mind-blowing. One of the reasons why I love watching these Marvel movies is because of the sneak peeks or stunning references that we are given to other films in the future. And to know that Spider-Man: Far from Home will have some truly exciting post-credit scenes to joy is enough to pay the $10+ ticket fee.
What are you most excited to see in Spider-Man: Far from Home? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a marvel-ous day.
