Why ‘The Lord of the Rings’ Is Amazing: The Cast and Characters

Yesterday I wrote the first post in a five-part series featuring why The Lord of the Rings is amazing. In that post, I shared my fascination with the awe-inspiring locations Peter Jackson sought to bring this epic story to life. But it isn’t just the beautiful lands captured onscreen that have managed to make these films astronomically magnificent but also the incredible cast as well.

Think about some of the best movies ever made. Take films like Die Hard or the original Star Wars films for example. Each of these movies took relative unknowns and boosted them to icon status instantly. Bruce Willis will always be known as the tough, gun-toting, wise-cracking guy for the incredible job he did to bring that type of character to life in Die Hard. Could another actor have done the same?

Star Wars took a cast of unknowns–Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, etc–and boosted them to Hollywood royalty overnight as they starred in a film (A New Hope) that still awes children and adults to this day.

The Lord of the Rings is another one of these types of movies. On that note, let’s look at this sprawling cast who brought each and every character to life in a way rarely seen in film or television.

‘Beats’ Is a Beautiful Story of Triumph over Tragedy

Every once in a while Netflix releases an original film or series that turns out to actually be kind of amazing. Last year Netflix released two films that would go on to have a massive presence at the Oscars; Roma and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. And it looks like Netflix is trying to have a few more films in the running for the Oscars and Beats is leading the charge.

Beats, starring Anthony Anderson and Khalil Everage, is a film set in the South Side of Chicago that follows the story of a traumatized teenager after he witnesses a devastating event that changes his life forever and his rehabilitation process.

This film will make you smile, it’ll probably make you cry, and its story is just unpredictable enough to leave you guessing what is going to happen and still manages to deliver plenty of surprises. And with a perfect marrying of hip-hop music to help carry the story you’ll probably find yourself bumping to the film’s scores and songs.

Beats is a beautiful story told in an inspiringly triumphant fashion, leaving one realizing that no matter how tough times can be it’s always important to follow your dreams and to never stop believing.

I’m giving this film 97 out of 100 and 4.5 of 5 stars. The movie is perfectly composed and leaves one immensely satisfied at the film’s conclusion.

And get this, the film’s Rotten Tomatoes critic score is currently at 100%. Not bad right?

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.

Captain America: Secret War (FIFTEEN)

The Quinjet was heading east, flying across the Atlantic Ocean and heading toward the United Kingdom. There was an unspoken tension in the air as the heroes prepared for the threat they were bound to face in London. Plus, there would be the task of not getting apprehended by the London police force which could prove to be a challenge as well.

Steve Rogers rose from his seat to go stand beside his friend, Sam, who was piloting the craft. He looked out of the window at the miles of deep blue water that stretched in every direction thousands of feet below them. Continue reading Captain America: Secret War (FIFTEEN)
