As you’ve read throughout the majority of this series there are many reasons why The Lord of the Rings trilogy are some of the greatest movies ever created. The beauty, the cast and characters, the mystical creatures and lands, the music, but most importantly, as great as all of this is if it wasn’t for the emotional superiority of these films they would be visually stunning but definitely bland. Kind of like The Hobbit trilogy.
Think about it. From Gandalf’s epic sacrifice in The Fellowship of the Ring with that unforgettable quote “Fly you fools” just before Frodo unleashes an unparalleled cry of anguish that truly fills the heart with sadness. Several seconds later, the Fellowship takes in the devastating moment with tears and heartbreaking silence.
