What’s Your Favorite Luke Skywalker Look?

Luke Skywalker, like Princess Leia and Han Solo, has had his own style throughout the Star Wars franchise. In fact, his style in A New Hope helped act as a base for Rey’s scavenger outfit in The Force Awakens. There are a lot of things to love about Luke’s design and that’s why he’s the topic for today’s segment. Enjoy!

Tatooine Farm Boy

When we first met Luke Skywalker in A New Hope he looked like a science-fiction rendition of Arthur from the Disney version of The Sword in the Stone. With clothes fit for the sweltering temperatures of Tatooine and colors to match the sandy landscape of the planet Luke’s style in this film would become instantly iconic along with his fellow Star Wars heroes.

Luke the Rebellion Hero

As a hero of The Rebellion Luke Skywalker’s wardrobe changed from the dusty clothing fit for those on Tatooine to the flashy style of a rebel hero. The yellow jacket is bold, the black pants and brown boots add an extra sense of style to the overall design, and his boots gleam with impeccable shine.

Luke Skywalker was looking rather sharp for the medal ceremony. In fact, this is his fanciest outfit he donned throughout his time in the franchise.

A Rebel Commander

When next we see Luke Skywalker there’s no doubt that he is a commander of The Rebellion. There’s a maturity to him that wasn’t there in A New Hope. It’s almost like you can tell he’s been in many battles after his first battle at the Death Star.

Because he was on Hoth, he is dressed in a thick coat, vest, pants, all of which are designed to meld with the snowy landscape of the frozen planet. It’s one of his coolest outfits by far because it, in a way, stays true to the color tones he had with his Tatooine outfit in A New Hope.

Luke the Pilot

Like all of the pilots in the Original and Sequel trilogy, Luke Skywalker is dressed in this orange jumpsuit that’s a bit different than the ones the pilots wear in the new movies. To be honest, I think I like these orange piloting suits better.

Luke’s New Adventure Look

I have been fascinated with this outfit since I was a kid, mainly the jacket. There was something so perfect about the matching jacket and pants which have this greyish-brown color. It made Luke look like he was at another level in his story, which of course, he was, and I still love it.

Relaxed Luke

Luke Skywalker had nearly died fighting Darth Vader but thanks to his friends he was able to survive and get taken back to The Rebellion to get fixed up. Here we see Luke Skywalker in an outfit that’s very similar to the one he wore in A New Hope, only nicer.

A Jedi Knight

Luke’s growth in Return of the Jedi was immediately blatant as we saw the character rocking a new look altogether. Here we have Luke Skywalker with the black-hooded cloak. Immediately you get the sense that this is a newer, even more, mature version of the character we have grown to love and it is utterly fascinating.

The All-Black Jedi Outfit

lukeandleia.jpg

Unlike most Jedi who chooses to wear brown colors for their outfits, Luke Skywalker’s Jedi outfit would be all black, which is one of the reasons why Luke Skywalker is such an amazing character. With black being relegated to the villains of the franchise, Luke changed that narrative by being the hero that he was with the black outfit. Luke’s got some serious style, that’s for sure.

Luke the Jedi Master

It’s been thirty years, Luke Skywalker has vanished from the galaxy, a new evil has risen and new heroes have emerged to bring the fight to the dark side. When we finally see Luke again it is very clear that he is a new man. His hair is long, he wears flowing sand-colored robes and a brown cloak. He’s got a new hand. He looks like you’d expect a Jedi master to look and it is awesome.

Ahch-To Hermit Look

When Luke Skywalker isn’t trying to be all Jedi-mastery he wears this; a thick dark tunic, a brown glove to wear over his hand, dark pants and brown boots, and a hooded cloak made out of a material that definitely seems waterproof. This is Luke as a hermit and for him to be a hermit he still manages to retain that style we have grown to associate with this character.

The Jedi Returns

After Luke decides to return to the fight and help the Resistance face the First Order he is given a new look, one that shows him as a younger man before everything went to hell. His hair is short like in Return of the Jedi, he wears a black hooded robe over white undergarments, melding the styles of his look in The Force Awakens and Return of the Jedi.

Luke Skywalker is one of the most stylish Jedi in the franchise and that’s why he’s one of my favorite characters of all time.

Of these variously unique looks which is your favorite? I thought I knew what my favorite look was but after doing this post I’m having second thoughts. For as long as I can remember I have been in love with Luke Skywalker’s black outfit in Return of the Jedi but he has some other designs that I have grown to love as well.

Like his celebratory outfit in A New Hope with his awesome yellow coat, the Hoth rebel commander outfit in The Empire Strikes Back, or his adventure look in The Empire Strikes Backor his Jedi Master look in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Oh, it’s so difficult.

I think I’d have to say, my favorite look is actually the Hoth one. There’s something so perfect about this design that I couldn’t help but place it in my #1 list.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day. May the Force be with you.
