A Movie Ranking: Christian Bale

Christian Bale has become one of my favorite actors over the years clearly because of his role as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. But over the years I’ve seen him in other films and have been more than impressed with his ability to transform into different characters. So, for this week’s A Movie Ranking, I wanted to highlight Christian Bale.

7. Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle

Christian Bale and Rohan Chand in Mowgli (2018)

I have tried to watch this movie three times and all three times I have never been able to finish it. So I have this film at the bottom of this list.

6. Pocahontas

Irene Bedard, John Kassir, and Frank Welker in Pocahontas (1995)

I had no idea that Christian Bale voiced Thomas in Pocahontas until today. This has been a fun discovery.

5. Reign of Fire

Reign of Fire (2002)

I watched this one day with my father and I enjoyed it to a certain extent. No, it’s not the best movie in the world but for a matinee film, it’s not bad.

4. The Dark Knight Rises

Christian Bale kills it again as Batman as he has to deal with his greatest enemy in Bane. While The Dark Knight Rises is still a pretty good film it’s nothing compared to the other two Dark Knight movies.

3. Batman Begins

Batman Begins is one of the greatest superhero movies of all time. It’s a fantastic origin story that delivers Batman a dark yet gritty beginning to his journey that is absolutely fascinating to witness. It’s also home to one of my favorite movie shots of all time; the revolving shot of him standing on the turret of a skyscraper under the veil of the night like a dark guardian. So epic!

2. The Prestige

The Prestige is the second movie he made with Christopher Nolan and to my great surprise, I didn’t see him as Bruce Wayne/Batman. He was a magician who was a part of this dark storyline that was riveting from beginning to end. This is a really good movie and yet another phenomenal Christopher Nolan film.

1. The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is one of the best movies of all time. So riveting, so phenomenally written, so perfectly paced, so enthralling, everything positive you can say about this film deserves to be said about this movie. It is hands down the best superhero film ever made and I love it with every fiber of my being.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s movie ranking and I thank you for reading. Have a great day.
