This season’s treatment of the “Old-School” legends has been brutal, to say the least. Four of the greatest people to ever play Survivor have been voted out in stunning succession; Tyson Apostol, “Boston” Rob Mariano, Parvati Shallow, and Sandra Diaz-Twine. Shot after shot has been fired and these great players were caught in the bullseye, either by blindside, blunt rejection, sheer gameplaying, or the ultra use of deception. It’s been a staggering turn of events and I have loved every moment of it.
Standing tall from the battlefield are three players of the season who I have deemed the three most dangerous people left in the game; Wendell Holland, Michelle Fitgerald, and Denise Stapley.
These three players seem tame in comparison to the GOATS such as Tyson or Rob or Parvati and Sanda and yet they have brought about the demise of these players in equally appalling and fascinating fashions.
Wendell won last time because he was mostly invisible, slowly rising to prominence in a season that I can barely remember because it was that boring. The finale, of course, would become a doozy, leading to the first-ever tie between two players at the final tribal council. Wendell would end up garnering the deciding vote for a million dollars, hence winning in a historic fashion.
Michelle would end up winning Season 32, Survivor: Kaoh Rong, which would be one of the most underwhelming seasons in Survivor‘s history. When she won the million dollars fans bombarded her with accusatory statements, deeming that she wasn’t worthy of winning the season. I hope this season has proved every reason why she was a winner and how smart and cunning she really is. If Wendell’s demise arrives it will be via Michelle because she is gunning for him and things could get ugly real quick.
And finally, there’s Denise who people immediately assume is pretty docile in the scheme of everything. She seems like the sweet older lady who doesn’t pose much of a threat. The guts and skill she had to play Sandra the way she did were not only brilliant but chill-inducing at the same time. It will easily go down as one of the greatest moves in Survivor, transforming this season into one that has been cemented in the record books as one of the best seasons so far.
And apparently, next week’s episode is going to be even more insane than this. I’m just ready for the ride.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.
