Watching ‘The Matrix’ For the First Time

Growing up in the United States as an avid movie lover The Matrix has been as constant a pop culture phenomenon as the likes of Star Trek. I vaguely knew what the movie was about, I’d seen bits and pieces of some of the films in no particular order but had no idea what was going on. So, last night, I decided to watch The Matrix for the first time. Dang, it was better than I expected!

I’ve seen a lot of science-fiction films but this was definitely a trippier one than most movies I’ve seen of this genre. It’s like the next level story of The Terminator‘s concept–A.I. takes over humanity–but adds horror to the recipe. I was positively blown away by the simple but easily riveting story that concocted a movie that would permeate pop culture forever.

By the end, when Keanu Reeves’ Neo finally tapped into his full potential against The Matrix, I was positively pumped and ultimately pleased with the overall experience. No, it isn’t the best science-fiction movie I’ve ever seen but heck yeah it was enjoyable and I’m glad I finally watched it.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day.

Throwback Friday: Was Black Widow Treated Fairly in ‘Avengers: Endgame’?

Avengers: Endgame marks the end of an era. Heroes that we have fallen in love with and have grown invested in are moving to new horizons. Some have died, some have survived, some have evolved into greater versions of themselves, but every character has found a certain conclusion in this Infinity Saga finale. That leads me to Black Widow.

Since the beginning, Black Widow has been an important character. She has had her various moments to shine and through the films, we’ve got to learn more and more about her backstory.

We learned that she grew up in the Red Room to be trained as an assassin. We learned, in The Avengers, that she had a debt to her good friend Hawkeye for saving her life. We also discovered as she talked to Loki, that she wanted to right the wrongs of her past.

10. Captain America vs. Iron Man

Captain America: Civil War is filled with twists and turns. I mean, this picture alone details this scene as one of the most striking moments in the MCU. Continue reading My Top 20 Scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Part 3

Valkyrie: The Kings of Asgard?: Chapter Five

Samantha entered the courtyard with Priscilla at her right shoulder. The Valkyrie turned to her, their expressions resolute as they awaited her command. Behind each of them stood a beautiful Pegasus, powerfully muscled and understandably proud, as if they knew they were the most beautiful creatures in the universe.

Samantha mounted her very own Pegasus, a gorgeous mare she named Destiny. She then turned to her fellow Valkyrie who was mounting their own horses. Their eagerness for the mission was apparent in their expressions, in the tightness they held the manes of the Pegasi, but there was an undeniable air of fear that lingered over them. They had all fought beside Hela in great battles against formidable foes. They had watched in awe as the Goddess of Death mowed through enemies like a scythe in a wheat field. And they all knew that none of them could defeat her. They could only hope that together they would be enough. Continue reading Valkyrie: The Kings of Asgard?: Chapter Five
