Zorii Bliss: A Day in Kijimi: Chapter Nine

The crew was going restless as they waited by Miners’ Gate, making sure to stay out of sight of the First Order patrol that continuously announced their presence as they stomped past in the ankle-deep snow with all of their pompous authority.

“Where is she?” one of the impatient Spice Runners hissed, shifting in his increasingly uncomfortable crouched stance.

Gibble looked back, his disapproval visible even though his face was hidden behind his dark mask.

“She will come. Just be patient.”

“We don’t have time to be patient,” another runner mumbled, their guttural growl for a voice indicating that they were not human beneath their mask. “With every minute that passes our chances of obtaining the medallion are lesser and lesser.”

“We will not go until she arrives!” Gibble ordered, throwing the other divisible spice runner an invisible glare.

As if on cue, they spied her approaching; a dash of purple against the bland whiteness of the snow and charcoal stone of the buildings. She hurried over and they all noticed the black droid on her back that looked particularly menacing with its red lights that seemed to stare at them.

“I see you got yourself a DISC,” Gibble said with clear approval in his tone. “That’ll help things.”

Zorii looked toward the sky and the descending sun that lied overhead. “We need to hurry. We don’t have much time before the day will be over.”

“Then let’s go,” Gibble said, rising from his hidden position as he followed Bliss through Miners’ Gate and into the snow-covered passages of the mountains.

Neither Zorii or Gibble knew that behind them the two rebellious spice runners shared glances. They had other plans and Zorii wasn’t a part of their treacherous scheme.
