A Movie Ranking: Angela Basset

Angela Basset is a beautiful, captivating actress who commands the screen with her presence. Today, for this week’s A Movie Ranking, I wanted to highlight an actress and she was the one I chose. Enjoy!

6. Meet the Robinsons

Meet the Robinsons (2007)

I watched this movie as a child and while it isn’t the worst children’s movie I’ve ever seen it’s definitely not the best.

5. Bumblebee

Fred Dryer, Len Cariou, John Ortiz, Megyn Price, Pamela Adlon, Glynn Turman, John Cena, Stephen Schneider, Lenny Jacobson, Sachin Bhatt, Hailee Steinfeld, Gracie Dzienny, Tim Martin Gleason, Felicia Stiles, Krystin Goodwin, Isabelle Ellingson, Jason Drucker, Brandon Wardle, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Nick Pilla, and Mika Kubo in Bumblebee (2018)

While this, personally, is not my favorite Transformers movie it’s very cute. Angela Basset does a great job bringing life to the Decepticon Shatter and is one of the better elements of the film.

4. Black Panther

Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Isaach De Bankolé, Martin Freeman, Michael B. Jordan, Andy Serkis, Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Daniel Kaluuya, and Letitia Wright in Black Panther (2018)

Angela Basset plays King T’Challa’s mother, Queen Mother Ramonda, and she exudes power as this Wakandan queen. Her words are full of wisdom and she looks like, if it came down to it, she could defend herself rather efficiently against her foes. I’m interested in what else she can add to the story in the future.

3. Avengers: Endgame

Don Cheadle, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Bradley Cooper, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Danai Gurira, and Karen Gillan in Avengers: Endgame (2019)

This movie is a masterpiece. No, it’s not the best film in the MCU but it is extraordinary in how it manages to conclude a saga eleven years in the making. I mean, I’ve never been in a movie theater that excited and rowdy in my life. This franchise has impacted the world and deserves every bit of praise it can get.

2. Mission: Impossible-Fallout

Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, and Simon Pegg in Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)

This, in my opinion, is the greatest action movie ever made. Filled with jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat action sequences, Fallout stands as one of the best films I’ve ever laid eyes on. Angela Basset’s role as CIA deputy director Erika Sloane is actually my favorite role of hers, as she manages to exude such a sternness in all of her scenes in this movie that is downright riveting. I hope she returns in the sequel because I have a feeling she’d only help the film’s story in a big way.

1. Malcolm X

Denzel Washington in Malcolm X (1992)

This is hands down the best biographical film I have ever watched. Denzel Washington should’ve won Best Actor for his stunning portrayal of the iconic civil rights activist, Malcolm X, Spike Lee should’ve at least been nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, and this movie should’ve been nominated for Best Picture. It’s one of the greatest movies ever made and a true testament to exceptional moviemaking.

That’s my movie ranking for Angela Basset. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a tremendous day.
