Margot Robbie Will Play the New Lead in an Upcoming ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Reboot

Since the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy ended in 2006 Disney has continued to try and find the magic that made those three films accumulate roughly $2.6 billion. In 2011, despite the mediocre response Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides made over a billion dollars (😯) but the fifth movie in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales wouldn’t be so lucky. Despite not performing as well as Disney had hoped on that Memorial Day weekend, it would still go on to gross nearly $800 million! But, judging from the simmering response, it became very clear that fans were tired of the same old-same old.

Jack Sparrow had lost the spark that made him so lovable in the first three Pirates movies, returning in a washed-up performance that felt, ultimately, unenthused.

Each film has managed to make a good chunk of cash but Disney understands that they have another great franchise on their hands if they can simply find the right pirate to helm a much-needed reboot. And it appears that Disney has found their lead.

Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie will play the lead in an all-new Pirates of the Caribbean reboot that will feature brand new stories and brand new characters. It will be written by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson who will bring to life a new story helmed by a woman who should command the screen simply with her infectious smile.

Margot Robbie has shown that she can play an interesting female character who is all for kicking butt and girl power. I think it’s a great idea for her to fill in the shoes that Johnny Depp has left behind with Jack Sparrow and I believe she would make an excellent lead in a riveting Pirates of the Caribbean reboot.

Will ‘Spider-Man 3’ Be the First Superhero Ensemble Film of the Trilogy?

Spider-Man 3 is set to arrive in theaters next November (unless COVID-19 continues to mess things up for the movie industry) and that means we will get to see the continuation of Peter Parker’s story as he now deals with his identity being exposed to the world. How will he deal with this new level of fame or animosity from villains who will want to claim their revenge? And just how many villains will be looking for a piece of Spider-Man?

I feel that it would be the perfect opportunity to introduce the Sinister Six to the world, maybe under the direction of their menacing boss, Kingpin. The Sinister Six comprises of Vulture, Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Sandman, Electro, and Kraven the Hunter. Vulture and Mysterio have already been introduced in the MCU and they are surely looking for some sweet, sweet revenge. These other four antagonists would only make things that much more interesting. Who’s Your Favorite X-Men Character?

Considering that I’ve been watching so many X-Men movies lately I had to revisit this post for this week’s Who’s Your Favorite? Enjoy!

(My X-Men knowledge is still somewhat limited so I will be listing the characters I am most familiar with.)

Cyclops has always been a cool character because of his interesting eye beam ability and the same can still be said from this most recent rendition of the character. While I never knew that much about the X-Men I still knew who Cyclops was when I was a kid and that shows the impact this hero had on me as a child. I can’t wait to see who will bring him to life this time around.

Nightcrawler is pretty cool, actually. His teleporting abilities are pretty fantastic but it’s when he turns into a deadly wrecking machine that he really gets his chance to shine. I’ve only seen him in the newer X-Men movies so I’m interested to eventually see him in the older X-Men films as well.

Mystique is easily one of the coolest concepts of a character in the superhero world. The fact that she’s this shape-shifting alien-ish sort of being is remarkable and it’s what makes her so intriguing. I like to think of her as the blue Black Widow.

It should be interesting to see what sort of cameos we may see as she shapeshifts into current or previously deceased MCU characters when she appears in later films.
