Captain America: Secret War (TWENTY-FOUR)

Silverware clinked and glasses thumped against a gorgeous wooden dining table as Natasha, Nick Fury, Agent Hill, and Shuri dug into a simple Wakandan dinner. The nearby wall was made entirely of glass, providing a view of the city in all of its glittering glory in the night time. Steve Rogers stood at the window, his arms crossed and his jaw clenched. He couldn’t eat. Not with this much worry on his mind.

Queen Mother Ramonda and General Okoye also did not participate in the brief repast, choosing to stand and grimly oversee the heroes’ chance to recharge.

The tension was thick in the air as everyone filled their empty bellies but didn’t speak. With every minute that passed, Dr. Frost’s reign only grew stronger. And at the moment they had no idea how to handle this threat. In fact, every single one of them, excluding the Queen Mother, had barely survived their encounter with the metal-levitating antagonist.

General Okoye abruptly nodded at the Dora Milaje guards standing at the entrance of the room and with a respectful dip of their heads they left.

“I think it is time to discuss the problem at hand,” she said. Continue reading Captain America: Secret War (TWENTY-FOUR)

Counting Down My Favorite Trailers: #4: ‘Logan’

Like I said in earlier posts, these last five trailers to be highlighted are special for their individual reasons. Avengers: Infinity War is a special trailer because of the joy it provides through its reveals of the characters and its choice of musical composition which brings a unique quality to the trailer unlike anything I’ve seen in another comic book movie trailer.

Now, we tackle Logan and why its trailer is so stellar. Here it is.

Okay, here’s the thing about this trailer. I’ve never seen a song match a trailer so well. Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” is so perfect for this trailer. The grim words of the song matches the dark tone of the trailer, the clips shown hide the true weaving of the story, allowing plenty of surprise for viewers of the film in theaters, and it just sounds so perfect with this trailer. Oh, speaking of theaters, that is when I first saw this trailer.

I sat in that theater, pressed back against my seat as the trailer (in IMAX) bombarded me with that song that left me just…shook. It’s also rewarding to know that the movie is as good as the trailer.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Throwback Friday: Here Are Seventeen Movies That Have Made Me Cry Like a Baby

As you can see from my blog I am a HUGE movie fan. I love all genres of movies. Action, adventure, horror, drama, comedy, romance; you name it. If it’s good I will watch it. And while there are plenty of astounding films that have rocked my world over the years there are always those few standout movies that have taken my emotions to other places. And those, usually, are the best films. If you watch a movie and at the end find yourself in a river of tears that movie has effected you in ways you won’t soon forget. So, here are the sixteen movies that have made for me the definition “waterworks” an understatement.

Spoiler Alert! I will speak of some of these films’ most heartbreaking or heartwarming scenes that made me cry entire oceans into existence in detail so…if you haven’t seen some of these films…beware!

I’ve seen a lot of children’s movies in my time and there are quite a few that I have grown to love but I have never seen a children’s film as perfectly constructed as this one in my life.

I watched this movie a long time ago in 2010 but I had completely forgotten nearly everything about the film. One day I was watching Freeform and when it came on I decided to watch it for only the second time in my life. Oh my goodness, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.

This movie had me crying so many times I couldn’t believe it. I was crying at the beginning, I was weeping in the middle, and I was utterly balling at the end. This is easily the best children’s movie I have ever watched by a landslide.
