A few years ago I read the inspiring true story of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan girl who becomes a champion chess player.
When Disney announced they were making a movie based on the story I couldn’t wait to eventually see it. Well, thanks to Disney+, I watched it and it was as good as I expected.
No, it wasn’t anything brilliant but it told Phiona’s story eloquently and, if you’re in a real sappy mood, it’ll potentially bring you to tears. If you have Disney+, Queen of Katwe is a definite must-watch film, for it tells a story that you don’t see every day.
I’m giving this movie 93 out of 100 and 4 out of 5 stars. Like I said before, it’s not the best movie I’ve ever seen but it is enjoyable from beginning to end.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day.
