Qi’ra had never felt more special in her life. As she exited the Senate Building with the sword in hand everyone they passed glanced at her with shock. No weapons, besides the authorized personnel throughout the building, were allowed to have weapons in the vicinity, making her all the more intriguing.
She loved the feel of its weight in her hands. There was something unspeakably powerful about the sword that, as she held it her grip, gave her the guts to pursue her plan of eventually bringing Maul down and showing him who was boss. Continue reading QI’RA: Chapter Thirty-Eight→
This past weekend we got another episode of The Mandalorian, Chapter 10: The Passenger to be exact. I happened to love the episode. Others didn’t. Most of the disgruntled comments I read on Twitter from fans was that the episode was boring and wasn’t getting to the nitty-gritty of the story. There was no Boba, there were no Mandalorians, and the idea of Ahsoka being in this season feels like a distant fantasy, but that’s the brilliance of this story; its random side adventures.
If we look back at Chapters One and Two of the first season and we look at Chapters Nine and Ten they are both very similar narratively.
In Chapter One: The Mandalorian we meet Mando, a ruthless bounty hunter who doesn’t talk much but can handle himself quite well in a brawl or a confrontation with a monster. The first episode established Mando’s mission; find the “asset” and return it to The Client. Turns out the “asset” is an uber-cute green baby that Mando finds himself instantly attached to.
Chapter Two: The Child does not immediately see Mando and the asset return to his ship, Razor Crest to continue with the story. Instead, we’re taken on a detour that involves ultra-Baby Yoda cuteness, some hilarious Jawa shenanigans, and a near-deadly confrontation with a mudhorn.
This second season is basically following the same playbook.
I. Love. Movies! That’s been the tagline of my blog since its inception in December 2016. And what is the basis of a great movie? An awesome character.
Every movie’s driving force are the characters that lead the story to other dimensions and have you asking for more. If a movie is awful there’s a good chance that the main character probably annoyed the heck out of you. And if a movie is phenomenal it’s very likely that the film had some pretty fantastic characters involved.
Today, I will share a tentative list of my ten favorite movie characters of all time (tentative because it could change at any second) and in no particular order. So, here goes.
Harry Potter
Growing up, my first love wasn’t Star Wars, it was Harry Potter. There still hasn’t been quite as amazing a children’s fantasy story brought to the big screen as these movies and at its beating heart lies Harry Potter himself, perfectly portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe.
Since the shockingly young age of eleven he had to carry an entire franchise on his shoulders and he did his job swimmingly. Yes, he was a kid, but he was a brave kid tackling impossible odds in a terrifying world full of monsters, creepy wizards, and a particular revenge-stricken monster named Voldemort.
His story never grows weak, the plot only thickens, and by the end of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban alone, there’s no doubt in my mind that he is undoubtedly one of my favorite movie characters of all time.
