When I first created this post I was still a month and a half away from seeing Avengers: Infinity War. Of course, since then, we have had three new heroines join the party; Captain Marvel, Wasp, and Pepper Potts, meaning this list needs an update pronto. Enjoy my new ranking of the Marvel heroines!
15. Agent 13
I didn’t realize how much I liked Sharon Carter until it was announced that she may play a role in the upcoming Falcon and Winter Soldier series on Disney+. I was legitimately excited. At that moment I realized just how much she had grown on me over the years. I would probably place her higher if she wasn’t against such stiff competition, hence the last place on this list.
14. Agent Peggy Carter
I like Peggy because she isn’t just a pretty face. She’s also tough, strong-willed, and she proved that she was more than just a love interest/damsel-in-distress. I appreciate that. It’s a shame that she only made one major appearance in the franchise in Captain America: The First Avenger but she definitely won me over.
13. Mantis
What I like the most about Mantis is her sweet, innocent personality. She’s never been around a lot of people before and it makes her a little awkward in the presence of others but that’s why she’s so great. She was my favorite thing from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and her presence in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame was lovable as well. I can’t wait to see her in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
12. Gamora
Gamora has had an interesting story. In fact, she has gone from being one of the truly deceased heroes in Avengers: Infinity War to being brought back from the dead in a super strange way, considering that she is now from the past, meaning her friendship with the Guardians of the Galaxy is practically nonexistent. How her role in the MCU will evolve moving forward I can’t wait to see.
11. The Ancient One
The Ancient One is cool, point blank. Her roles in both Doctor Strange and Avengers: Endgame was 100% awesome and I hope she returns from beyond the grave in the future to offer more wisdom for the heroes.
10. Nakia
Nakia’s role in Black Panther was fantastic as she proved to be more than a love interest. Unfortunately, she wouldn’t appear in either of the Avengers films so her story is on pause. When she returns in Black Panther will see hints of her comic-book alter-ego, Malice, begin to surface.
You see, in the comics, she wasn’t a direct girlfriend of T’Challa’s. Instead of being part of the Wakandan espionage group called the War Dogs she was part of the Dora Milaje. Growing up with T’Challa she grew strong feelings for the Wakandan king but he didn’t in return. She grew incredibly jealous and tried to kill one of his ex-girlfriends. In his anger, T’Challa banished her from Wakanda and she would later join Erik Killmonger’s ranks as Malice.
Of course, this is way off the current story for her character but there could be other ways to turn her into Malice for the Black Panther sequel. Talk about drama. *rubbing my hands*
9. Wasp
Wasp has proven to be quite the hero in her role in the MCU. From Ant-Man to Endgame, Hope van Dyne has shown that she is truly worthy of being an Avenger.
8. Shuri
Who doesn’t love Shuri? She’s the entire package. She’s smart, she’s an incredible warrior, and she’s a princess! I love Shuri. 😊
7. Nebula
I love Nebula! She has gone from playing a small role in Guardians of the Galaxy to becoming one of the most important characters in Avengers: Endgame. And she didn’t die, meaning we get to continue following her journey in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Yay!
6. Pepper Potts
I can’t believe I can say Pepper Potts is a superhero but she is and I am ecstatic about that fact. We already got a glimpse of what it could be like with Pepper and Tony Stark fighting bad guys together when she became Fire-Woman in Iron Man 3 but with the power being removed from her she returned to normal.
To see her fighting alongside The Avengers in the epic climactic battle versus Thanos and his army was easily one of the highlights of the MCU so far. Love you 3000!
5. General Okoye
I love General Okoye. She’s so strong-willed, she has one of the coolest outfits of any character in the MCU, and her skills with that spear are superb. I loved that she helped fight Thanos alongside The Avengers. By the time we see her again in Black Panther 2 her view of the world and the people living in it will have changed, bringing even more depth to her character.
4. Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch is a powerhouse. I already knew she was special after she made Vision look like a scrub in Captain America: Civil War but after her two confrontations with Thanos in both Infinity War and Endgame I can only say, hats off to you.
3. Black Widow
I’ve grown to truly love Black Widow over the years. There was a time when I didn’t care for her that much but now I can say I am a legitimate fan, making her role in Endgame all the more gut-wrenching. I was ready to see her kick some serious alien butt and she didn’t get to kick one bad guy in the face. That’s a tad bit upsetting. But, at least we get to see her star in her own film next year which should be fun. Then we get all the Black Widow action we could ever want and I am ready. 😁
2. Captain Marvel
When it was announced that Captain Marvel would be the first Marvel film we’d get this year I was excited but also a bit skeptical. Who was this new character who was supposed to be ultra-powerful and was I even going to like her? Well, I got my answer to both of these questions and I am relieved to say that yes, I do like her, a lot. I love her musical theme (it’s super heroic and it just makes me happy) and I love that she is so powerful.
Watching her handle Thanos is one of the joys of Endgame and I can’t WAIT to see her in future Marvel films.
1. Valkyrie
Yes, Valkyrie has climbed up the totem pole and is now my favorite Marvel heroine at this time. I already LOVED her role in Thor: Ragnarok, as she proved to be just as awesome an Asgardian warrior as both Thor and Loki but to see her return in Endgame in full-Valkyrie mode was just…awe-inspiring.
And now she’s King of Asgard! Um…YES!
Well, this is my ranking of the Marvel heroines so far. I know for a fact after the Black Widow movie and The Eternals this list will change and I can’t wait to see what new heroines I will be able to add to this incredible list of fantastic women.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fabulous day.
