Let’s Talk: ‘The Mandalorian: Chapter 14’

The Mandalorian has been quite the ride this season. There have been spiders and frog people, famous Jedi and the child at his cutest, and lots of jetpacking, but this latest episode just might be the best of the series yet. It was so good I needed a couple of days to think about it and have watched the episode five times in a single day.

Of course, there’s some serious SPOILERS AHEAD! so, be warned.

I’m just going to get to the heart of the matter. He’s back baby! Boba Fett is here and boy did he get the chance to kick some serious butt. We got to see Boba in action in a way we’ve never seen before! He had a staff, a rifle, knee guns, a missile, grenades, and his trusty pistol which he used with great effect. In short, it was awesome.

Now, I am not naive. I understand the convenience. Boba could’ve easily apprehended Mando on Tatooine and acquired his armor but it takes until the sixth episode in the season for him to do so. Yes, it’s convenient but it is rather fun to watch.

By the way, Grogu is in serious trouble. And I’m not just talking about the fact that he’s on an Imperial cruiser in hyperspace heading to become a donor for Gideon’s evil plan. No, I’m talking about the fact that he’s being totally consumed by the dark side.

He’s so full of fear that all he knows right now is the dark side. His attachment to Mando, his trauma, all of these recent life experiences are leading him down a very, very dark path and he needs help from a Jedi asap. And even so, he may be too far gone to fully shake the dark side.

We saw Ahsoka reject teaching him. She knows the path he is following is a dark path and refuses to be responsible for his turn to the dark side. The best thing for Grogu may be to cut himself off from the Force entirely like Luke. It may be the only thing that saves him.

Oh, I’m so worried for the baby and Mando needs to save him.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

  1. Yeah. I guess I missed thinking of that when I was writing in the middle of the night, but there’s a decent chance Grogu won’t really wind up being a good guy. This isn’t even the first time we’ve seen him doing this: there’s the time he Force choked Cara just because he misinterpreted an arm wrestling match. And keep in mind, this is just the two instances we know about.

I might have to write a few thoughts about this myself. 🙃
