Ever since I first started watching movies in IMAX I’ve been wanting to see what I feel is the greatest movie trilogy in this format. This February that dream finally came true; The Lord of the Rings was coming back to theaters in IMAX.
Over the course of four weeks, we watched each movie and I was absolutely blown away by each movie but last night, The Return of the King left me stunned, crying, and overwhelmed.
I knew the epic finale would be just that, epic, but I still didn’t quite realize just how incredible it would actually be. Of course, I personally prefer the extended edition because it fills in so many gaps in the movie but that didn’t matter. The battle sequences were out of this world, the Ride of Rohirrim scene is still one of the best in movie history, and the Olyphants. Just…wow!!!!
Peter Jackson may not make great movies anymore but he did his work. This trilogy, made in the 2000s’, still looks better than pretty much every movie since then. The CGI still holds up y’all!
I’m just…I can’t even begin to fully express how much I loved watching these movies in IMAX but I can say this…these truly are the greatest movies ever made because honestly, it almost seems magical itself that these films turned out as great as they did.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.
