March is going to be a busy movie month. There’s Chaos Walking and Raya and the Last Dragon, Coming 2 America and Justice League: The Snyder Cut, and of course, Godzilla vs. Kong. Of these five movies which am I most looking forward to?
Chaos Walking
This film starring Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland was supposed to come out years ago but extensive reshoots (because the movie was reportedly unwatchable) led the film to being delayed over and over again. Then COVID hit and it was delayed yet again but now, it’s finally coming out this Friday.
Will I be watching this movie? Definitely not. I love Ridley and Holland but honestly, I don’t want to see them in a movie together. Ridley’s blond wig looks ridiculous and clearly doesn’t even look like she would have hair like that. And honestly, the thought of her and Holland having a romance is just icky to me. That’s a fandom crossover that I don’t want to see.
Coming 2 America
Also coming out this Friday is the long-awaited sequel Coming 2 America on Amazon Prime Video and I am honestly petrified about this movie. It can be fun but I just have a feeling it’s going to be less than enjoyable. There may be some funny moments here and there but I’m ultimately just hoping this movie doesn’t a perfect film that didn’t need to be tampered with in the first place.
Godzilla vs. Kong
A couple of years ago I went to see Godzilla: King of the Monsters in IMAX and it was pretty fun to watch. Yes, it ultimately was a fail in storytelling quality but its visual effects and massive action sequences were quite the thrill. When I heard there was going to be a Godzilla vs. King Kong movie I was a bit excited and yet, the trailer is less than exciting.
First off, I don’t like King Kong. His story has always annoyed me to a certain extent and this movie featuring him and his relationship with a little baby girl seems like a prime vessel for stupidity. (I really hope Godzilla wins!)
And ultimately, this trailer is just bad. There’s nothing exciting about it but I do like that it’s not showing much. So…overall, I may not like the trailer but I’ll totally be watching it on March 25.
Raya and the Last Dragon
I love Disney movies and this latest one looks like it’s going to be a feast on the eyes. The question is, will it be just as entertaining as it looks? Last April I watched Onward and I wasn’t a fan. There wasn’t really anything about the film that sucked me in and its ending was ultimately pretty predictable.
Now I’ve heard that Raya and the Last Dragon has got some serious action sequences so I’m really excited to see that. I’ll be looking forward to seeing it this Friday.
The Justice League: The Snyder Cut
Fans have been clamoring for #TheSnyderCut since they laid eyes on that messy piece of work at the end of 2017 that Joss Whedon unleashed on the world. Now the world has a chance to see the other version; a four-hour goliath of a superhero flick that’s going to set Twitter ablaze, hopefully in a good way, and I’m just excited for the ride.
I liked the extended edition of Batman vs. Superman so…I hope this movie can be just as fun, if not more so.
So there, the movie I’m most excited to see is Justice League: The Snyder Cut even though I’m pretty sure the best film out of these five movies will be Raya and the Last Dragon.
