‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Delivers the Best Episode Yet!

I knew this show was going to be good, that was a no-brainer, but what the fourth episode of this series just delivered was fantastic on a whole other level. We’re on the latter half of the show and that means things are starting to go down. Character development is on full throttle, the action scenes aren’t just fun but are actually starting to mean something now, and just like the Captain America movies, the tone of the show has completely shifted. I don’t know what’s going to happen next or how this show will end with only two episodes left but I’m here for the intense and emotional ride.

The MVP of this week’s episode, however, is undoubtedly Wyatt Russel a.k.a John Walker. He gives a heck of a performance as the new Cap and exploring the character’s flaws. It’s very clear that this new Captain America is NOT Steve Rogers and that Sam Wilson is the exact opposite, or more appropriately, the perfect person to embody the role as the new Captain America. I know that at some point Sam is going to take on the mantle and this show is building to that moment. When it happens, I’m probably going to shed a little tear.

All in all, the fourth episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is undoubtedly the best so far. I honestly stopped hating John Walker in the second episode but now I love this character. I like characters with complex storylines and this show is really digging deep to flesh out this guy rather than pretending like he doesn’t matter and just making him an unlikable douchebag for Sam and Bucky to hate. I hope after this series is over with we get to see him again because I’m becoming a bit of a John Walker fan. I know that might not make all the sense after this week’s episode but…I like characters who are given time to grow and evolve and this show is doing that beautifully with Walker.

I also really, really loved the opening scene. In fact, I’m not ashamed to admit that it made me cry. It was a nice surprise and a beautiful extra piece of the puzzle for one of the title characters.

So, basically, I loved this episode, my mind is still reeling, and I’m just waiting to see what happens next week. (I’m really hoping next week is the episode where Sam and Bucky are down in Louisiana with Sarah because honestly, I need a bit of a break from all of this seriousness.)

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.
