We’re Less Than Ten Days Away From ‘Loki’

The fact that I’m finally writing this post celebrating the less-than-ten-days-away milestone for Loki is ridiculously exciting. I’ve been so intrigued in this series for so long and now…it’s almost upon us. How will it end? In which way will it tie into Phase 4 of the MCU? Oh, the questions keep on coming and ooh, I’m ready for the surprises.

In celebration of this moment here is the series’ official poster.

‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ Delivers The Scares and Sets Up A Thrilling Sequel

Well, I watched A Quiet Place: Part II today…fully vaccinated and maskless, which was very rewarding as a diehard movie theater fan. There’s nothing like walking into a theater to see a movie, to smell that iconic scent of popcorn in the air, and to hear the faint rumbling of the auditoriums throughout the theater as they each play a different film.

My theater, considering that it was the earliest showing, wasn’t packed but it was full of people ready to see the sequel to Krasinski’s 2018 surprise horror masterpiece. And sure enough, A Quiet Place: Part II delivers perfectly.

Like Aliens, the sequel builds upon the story with larger action pieces built around the same sort of slow-burn infuriating tenseness that the first film delivered so brilliantly. While A Quiet Place was more profoundly terrifying due to its various situations, the sequel manages to be just as nail-bitingly tense and I loved every second of anxiety.

A Quiet Place: Part II also begs for a sequel with an ending that, like the first one, leaves you wanting more. A Quiet Place: Part III has the chance of being even bigger and better than its two predecessors and if Krasinski returns to direct and write I can see it being another hit.

We have had horror movies strike luck twice but I believe A Quiet Place: Part III could be the first of a franchise to strike three times. In fact, I can see this story being split into a spinoff limited series on HBO Max, produced by Krasinski, giving us a chance to see this story from another angle with a brand new group of people because it is fascinating.

All in all, while A Quiet Place was inspiring for its originality and a true masterclass in suspense A Quiet Place: Part II is a masterclass in understanding how to keep the story going without losing the steam.

I’ll give it 93 out of 100 and 4 out of 5 stars.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

I’m Seeing ‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ Today!

Three years ago, A Quiet Place hit theaters and it reinvigorated the sci-fi/horror genre in a way most movies of the same genre can’t. Boasting an impressive 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, A Quiet Place was practically a perfect movie from start to finish, invoking real emotion, real fear, and some real jump scares. But the best thing about A Quiet Place was that it wasn’t trying to be scary. It just was.

When I watched it those years ago the ambiguous ending left me confused. But when I heard there was going to be a sequel, helmed once again by John Krasinski who would return for directing and writing, I just knew it was going to be special again. Sure enough, I saw the trailers and it looked like Krasinski was going the classic Aliens route by turning up the action notch rather than keeping the story simple and isolated.

Now, today, I’m finally getting a chance to watch A Quiet Place: Part II and I am so excited!

I’m fully vaccinated so even though I have gone to see films in a movie theater while the pandemic was still wildly active (six times, I might add) I always felt wary. Specifically eating my popcorn in the auditorium. Now, I can eat my popcorn and candy and feel totally comfortable and I. Am. Ready!

Later on today I’ll share my spoiler-free review. Until then, I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

The Top Five Scariest Villains

It’s time to talk about some scary antagonists. Enjoy!

5. Jack Nicholson in The Shining

The Shining is a disturbing movie, through and through, and Jack Nicholson’s performance as the crazed father/eventual ax murderer is legendary. He doesn’t have a horrifying mask or a terrifying makeup job to make him scary. He’s just scary by himself with those arched eyebrows and that horrifying face. I watched this movie in complete horror and it wasn’t because of anyone except for Jack Nicholson (and the twins but that’s another story.) He’s definitely one of the scariest villains I have ever seen.

‘The Bad Batch’ Was Kind of Boring This Week

The Bad Batch, for the past four weeks, has been so much fun. There have been some surprises, some heartfelt moments that made me care about and love these characters that I once hated, and it’s just been plain fun.

And then today’s episode happened. Will it move the story forward? Yes. Was it necessary for character development, specifically for Omega? Yes. But it was boring!

I was excited to see the Zygerrian slave traders in this animation and they were as beautiful as I imagined they’d be but…it just wasn’t one of those fun episodes for me.

It felt like one of those classic boring Clone Wars episodes that you skip to get to the next good episode. Unfortunately, I can’t skip to the next episode so…

Minor Spoilers Ahead!

But one thing I will say about this episode. There’s been theories going around that Omega is Force-sensitive. This episode all but confirmed those theories when Omega was the only clone to figure out that Cid was actually Cid just by looking at him.

The fact that the Kaminoans may have created themselves their very first Force-sensitive clone is very intriguing for the story moving forward and its implications for the future. And could we see Omega return in live-action somewhere down the line like in The Book of Boba Fett or even The Mandalorian‘s Season 3? Or maybe even Ahsoka? We’ll see.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day. May the Force be with you.

It’s Official: Oscar Isaac Is Moon Knight

There are a lot of really cool Disney+ MCU series coming up, one of them being Moon Knight. The first official casting for the series was Ethan Hawke in an undisclosed role but there still hadn’t been an official announcement of Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector/Moon Knight…until today.

After Isaac shared a post featuring him posing in front of some Moon Knight slips from the comics it is now official that he is indeed playing the mysterious moonlit vigilante and I am excited!

I’ve seen Oscar Isaac in a bunch of movies and I’ve seen his range as an actor. His best acting performances, I felt, have been in Ex Machina and Annihilation where he really transformed as an actor and I didn’t feel like I was looking at a variation of Poe Dameron. Seeing him become a Marvel superhero is going to be a nice change of pace (and a huge upgrade from his cringe-worthy/hilarious performance as Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse) and I’m really interested in what he’ll bring to the MCU.

My personal pick for the actor to play Spector was Adam Driver who I frankly think is a far better actor than Isaac. I really thought he would be able to embrace the character in a really profound an exciting way…but Isaac got it instead and I just hope he does justice to this character whose Wiki page is fascinatingly dark. We’ll see what happens.
