Is The Marketing for ‘Eternals’ Going To Hurt the Movie?

Three weeks ago the teaser trailer for Eternals finally came out. I was so excited. Our first substantial look at the movie that Marvel Studios was keeping so heavily under wraps it felt like an Avengers film was finally here. And then I saw the teaser.

For two minutes the teaser, well, teased the possibilities. We see a horizontal alien vessel approach a coastline where ancient people watch in bewilderment. Inside the ship there are our Eternals, a race of beings created by giant (kind of creepy) space giants called Celestials. They’ve apparently been sent to Earth where they protect humanity and help with our evolution over thousands of years.

At least that’s what Salma Hayek’s Ajak narrates to us as the teaser shows these Eternals interacting with humanity, and each other, in purposely brief clips.

I’ve Read Two Doctor Aphra Comics: Here Are My Thoughts

I’ve heard of Doctor Aphra for a while now after the character grew in fame among the fandom thanks to her fascinating storyline in the wider universe. She’s crossed the paths with the likes of Vader, Luke Skywalker, Hera Syndulla, and that’s just to name a few.

So I finally read a couple of her comics and I like her but I’m not a fan…yet.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra (2016) #19 VF/NM Ashley Witter Cover

Doctor Aphra is a character who just doesn’t give a ****. Excuse my language. She looks for relics, seemingly always finds herself in the wrong company, and yeah, she can get the ladies as well. She’s kind of cool in the regard that she is just so nonchalant and hilarious about everything but she’s also a bit annoying because she talks soooo much.

It’s like she’s moving at a million miles an hour and never slows down. I tried to read two of her comics back to back but geez, I was exhausted by the time I got three-fourths of the way through the comic you see above.

Would I love for her to show up in a series like The Bad Batch? Yes. Yes, I would. But will I be rushing to get more of her comics? If I run into some more I’ll pick them up but ultimately, I’ve spent enough time with her character to know she isn’t one of my favorites.

But her comics (Doctor Aphra and the Enormous Profit and Doctor Aphra Vol. 3) were entertaining, just a little tiring.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fabulous day. May the Force be with you.
