We’re Nine Days Away from ‘Black Widow’

Nine days from now I will be seeing a Marvel movie for the first time in two years. No, this isn’t a highly-anticipated series that’s going to run for six weeks and leave us clamoring for more answers every week. It’s one two hour and fourteen minute film and that’s it. It’s an exciting prospect.

So, in anticipation for the 24th movie in the MCU, here’s some more Black Widow appreciation. First up, I share another favorite Black Widow moment. Enjoy!

Black Widow’s Entrance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was the movie that turned me into a Black Widow fan. This film shined a light on her story that hadn’t been shone before and it made me empathize with her character and want to know (and see) more.

But it was this scene that I remember bringing a smile to my face. Steve Rogers is beginning to forge a new friendship with future Cap, Sam Wilson, when Natasha Romanoff drives up in a sleek, low to the ground, black Corvette, looking like the ultimate spy that she is. Then she does something that she ultimately never does again in the MCU; she tells a joke: “Hey fellas. Does anyone know where the Smithsonian is? I’m here to pick up a fossil.”

In that one moment we learn two things: A) she likes to drive in style and B) she’s actually a laid-back person if you get to know her, which shows how comfortable she had gotten with Steve Rogers. It was a wonderful moment that I thought was perfect to highlight today.

‘Nobody’ Is a Classic Action Movie With a Fun Twist

Nobody isn’t the type of movie you haven’t seen before. The story feels like John Wick (an unassuming guy gets his life upended and turns into an invincible super-killing machine) and Taken (the “unassuming guy” is an old popular male actor, this being Bob Odenkirk) have been mashed together, taking the best of both worlds and making it fun.

This isn’t surprising considering that the screenwriter who wrote Nobody is Derek Kolstad, the man who actually created John Wick and gave us one of the greatest action franchises of all time with one of Hollywood’s true action stars, Keanu Reeves.

Nobody Movie Quotes - Funtastic Life

The film can be funny at times, if you’re a fan of extremely violent action sequences like John Wick this movie will satisfy that yearning, and the main character is likable enough where you want to root for him. Heck, I want Odenkirk in a Marvel film, he was that awesome. But unlike John Wick which finds a way to take itself very seriously from start to finish, Nobody gets a bit lost in the weeds with a predictable Russian antagonist who has a not-that-mighty miniature army and a storyline that gets a bit too on the nose and corny in the end.

‘Loki’ Has Left Me Shocked Today

Oh, wow, that episode of Loki was so fascinating from beginning to end. There were so many great moments, so many surprises, and the mid-credits scene (yes, there is one) was so unbelievably shocking.

I have so many thoughts but because basically everything in this episode was a spoiler I’ll just leave it at this: I can’t wait for next week!!!!

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a glorious day.
