‘What If…?’: Well, That Was Fun

This series is turning out to be such a blast every week but no, I wasn’t expecting this series to go this dark.

Spoilers Ahead!

I mean, they called off almost all of the OG Avengers except for Cap, and that’s only because he was frozen in ice! What the heck?! First it was Tony, then Thor, then Hawkeye and The Hulk, and even Black Widow. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. In fact, I was a bit gobsmacked.

Here I was thinking this was going to be a Loki-centric episode and instead it was a nightmare. Loved seeing Captain Marvel though. Hopefully this episode actually creates a thread for later episodes because I need to see Captain Marvel handle Loki and his army as he seeks to take over Earth. That would be fun.

All in all, while I enjoyed last week’s episode better and felt like the resolution of this week’s story concluded too quickly and too easily it was fun and I can’t wait for more.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

  1. I was a little slow to watch this week, as I was the first two, really. I do like the show, and it’s certainly good quality stuff. But… the complete lack of continuity and the fact that none of this really matters in mainstream Marvel does have a way of reducing the urgency of watching it. I still will, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t mind if I procrastinate a couple days to a week before I catch these, and even with Bad Batch at its most filler, that just wasn’t the case.

    1. I actually don’t think it is lacking in continuity. In fact, there are already rumors going around that we may see Captain Carter in Multiverse of Madness so I think this animated series is a secret spinoff that could lead to actual stories in the future.

Marvel Studios will probably look to see which alternate scenarios the fans like most and then will find ways to implement them in later MCU installments. In fact, the show’s already been deemed as a secret Loki spinoff considering that is so heavily themed with the multiverse.

I can’t wait until this week’s episode with Evil Doctor Strange. He’s my favorite so I’m very excited.
