So, the last four weeks of What If…? were very dour. From having to watch the OG Avengers being killed off to seeing Doctor Strange lose the love of his life over and over again to even last week, watching Killmonger live up to his name was just…shocking, to say the least.
So, this week’s episode was a welcome respite from the darker tones and was just plain fun.
Chris Hemsworth’s return as Thor was hilarious and don’t even get me started with Loki! Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVED Loki in this episode and I’m sure Hiddleston had an absolute blast playing him.
All in all, the entire objective of this episode was to just have fun and that I did. And then…that ending happened!

Eh. I was never one of the “cool kids” growing up, and this just struck me as a bit too much of a bend into apologia for toxic and destructive behavior on Thor’s part. “Oh, I didn’t really destroy that other star system with my LAST party”… I mean, sure it’s maybe hard to visualize how a rager destroys the world, but this went from mildly amusing to annoying to triggering for me the more I thought about it.
I might’ve taken it more seriously than I should’ve, but I didn’t find it all that fun by the time I’d processed it. I get that the series is supposed to be a bit random, but… eh. I’d rather see them adapt “what if the Impossible Man got the Infinity Gauntlet” than this at the end of the day.
