Well, the first reactions for Eternals are in and it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Some are calling the film “epic” and “sweeping” while others are calling it “convoluted” and “10-ish minutes too long.” Unfortunately, out of all the miniature (mostly spoiler-free reviews I’ve seen) none of the critics are calling it Marvel Studios’ best film. Here are some of reactions to give you an idea of what to expect with the upcoming film.
This is far different than most early reactions for a Marvel movie. To hear so many critics claiming it as such a different experience than what we usually get from this franchise is exciting, for sure. These films can get formulaic in ways that turn out to be a bit boring but Chloe Zhao has created something that’s going to stick out of the pack, which makes sense.
I’m glad I saw Nomadland because now I understand Zhao’s story. She doesn’t rush a story. She’s let every frame breathe, she takes time to tell an impactful story that will stay with you for a while, and now she’s bringing that style of movie making to Marvel Studios.
I think the strangest thing I’ve noticed from these reactions is how many critics are comparing it to a DC film. One critic even cited the film as “Marvel’s version of Zack Snyder’s Justice League“. That’s very interesting to me and I can’t wait to watch the movie myself and create a verdict.
But for now, I’m getting ready for Dune in three days. I hope it lives up to the hype.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a tremendous day.
The trailer looked more intriguing to me than Shang-Chi’s did. But the concept and the dialogue seems more interesting than the effects. The guy shooting eye-beams and the flying creatures look like standard stuff we saw years ago. Not a fan of the trailer ending with a sketch-like comedy bit either.

It’s going to be an interesting film, for sure. I can’t wait to share my thoughts in the coming weeks.
