‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Isn’t ‘The Mandalorian’…Yet

I don’t know what I was expecting but I wasn’t expecting to be bored. Unfortunately, I was.

Minor spoilers ahead!

The opening minutes of the episode were fantastic. Seeing a flash of Kamino got me giddy, the visualization of Boba Fett’s escape from the Sarlacc Pit was disgusting and absolutely everything I’ve ever wanted, and of course, I love seeing the Tusken Raiders. That, however, was the best part of the show for me. The rest was a snooze fest for me.

The action felt stunted and nowhere near as brilliant as the action sequences from Rodriguez’s last work, “The Tragedy.” The characters we met along the way weren’t that likable. And then Boba was back in a bacta tank for a flashback rodeo again.

Oh, and yeah, WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?! This beast does not look like it belongs on Tatooine at all. The Krayt Dragon was awesome but this, this to me just doesn’t feel like the type of ferocious creature they should’ve run into on an arid planet like Tatooine. This thing looks like it would make more sense popping up in the swamplands of Naboo.

So overall, I’m giving it a 7 out of 10. It’s not bad, but it can be better.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

  1. Yeah. That was kinda disappointing, really. I’m kind of seeing a common thread with Hawkeye: super serious but relatively quiet supporting characters with big fan followings get their own series, and only then do the writers realize that there’s not much there to work with, but they don’t do a ton to make up for it and fill in the blanks.

Or, just maybe, Marvel and Star Wars are both jumping the shark. But I hope not.

  2. Have to agree, taking minor, nobody but extreme comic book fans characters and spinning them off, is getting old fast. Is Echo really that popular or are the fans just wanting the Kingpin around again, or Daredevil? Fett had like three lines in the OG trilogy. If all we get is flashbacks and Fett proving he’s a terrible crime lord , this show will sink. Then again I don’t think they ever intended for this show to go beyond one season.
