‘Moon Knight’: What The World Just Happened?

Was I dreaming or was last week’s episode amazing? It was. Okay, I wasn’t having a hallucination. Well then…what the heck was that?!

Marvel Studios has had some questionable MCU finales with rushed storylines, lackluster climactic action scenes, etc. but this…? This was a whole other level of yeesh.

The CGI was at times really good and at other times really bad. The action is terrible and literally sped up so many times that it was actually quite comical. The story was rushed so terribly that I’m not quite sure what just happened? This finale honestly didn’t feel professionally crafted and the fact that Marvel Studios released it knowing it was this bad is just…sad.

I love the MCU and its many characters/storylines but it feels like the franchise may be buckling under the pressure to put so much out in one year. I don’t know. I think I’m getting ahead of myself considering how much I loved the rest of the show.

All in all, Moon Knight was fun while it lasted and I would absolutely LOVE to see the character again but that finale was horrendous, end of discussion.

I’m giving the entire series, as a whole after that finale, 3.5 out of 5 stars and 85 out of 100. It was almost A- material until that fiasco of a conclusion.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.

  1. I didn’t hate the ending, but I was surprised it wasn’t longer. They should have taken some more time with it. Episode 5 was the best MCU stuff I’ve ever seen, period, so I expected a little more for the finale.

  2. I haven’t written up mine yet, but… I didn’t hate it. I mean, most of the endings of these shows have been bad. Arguably, they’re only really batting .200 on their endings. Loki’s ending was very good. Everything else… yeah.

That said, the way you’re reacting now is about how I reacted to the first two episodes: I was just sorta like, “wat?” I decided eventually that I liked them better after I saw them all again, and I’m half likely to give this one a second shot at some point to see if I like it any better. It was… an ending. The intended logic of the series broke down a bit with the different fights, and… yeah, I don’t know. I’ve still got my own thing to write up on it. 😛

    1. Yeah, I gave it a second viewing, liked it a bit better, but was ultimately dissatisfied with how they left us. And that’s mainly because of one character, Layla. I’ll share more of my thoughts in an upcoming post.
