‘Uncharted’ Is a Bland Action-Adventure Movie

This February Tom Holland starred in the live-action adaptation of Uncharted, a game I never played but have known loads about for a while. When Tom Holland was cast as the iconic game character Nathan Drake fans of the game weren’t that pleased. I understand why now.

Uncharted is your typical find-the-treasure movie but it lacks all of the pizzazz of a film like Indiana Jones or even The Mummy. The action sequences aren’t fun or lively, the humor left me deadpan, the story was as generic as it gets, the music was terrible, and the plot twists were foreseeable; all in all, Uncharted is as bland as it gets.

What made it worse, Tom Holland was clearly the wrong person to play this character. Judging from the script, Nathan Drake is supposed to be a lovable arrogant a-hole. Holland’s performance came off as a foul-mouthed Peter Parker.

The only character I was interested in was Tati Gabrielle’s Braddock and that’s only because I loved her hair.

Uncharted is a film I will most likely forget within a year and that’s the ultimate sign of how bad it was. I’m giving this movie 2 out of 5 stars and 70 out of 100.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

  1. We watched the Sandra Bullock Channing Tatum Romancing the Stone/Raiders of the Lost Ark mashup. It was cute, predictable, and not really original, but it wasn’t bad. Had a few funny moments. Now a good one we watched, that you may like was The Dry, with Eric Banna. That was worth watching. Some interesting twists.
