Let’s Talk About All of Those MCU Announcements at San Diego Comic-Con: Part One

If you’re a Marvel fan this past weekend was utterly stupendous. On Friday we got more news about their animated projects and on Saturday Kevin Feige brought down the house with a mind-blowing slate of titles, thus revealing the end of the road that so many people have been asking for. So, with no further delay, let’s talk about all of this fascinating stuff, starting with the animated series.

I am Groot

In a few weeks, we’ll be getting an original series with five shorts featuring Baby Groot being, well, cute.

What If…?: Season 2

What If…? will always be one of my favorite new things to come out of Phase 4 and yes, the second season is almost upon us. It will be dropping sometime in early 2023 and it will feature several fascinating new storyline such as:

  1. A Hela Story
  2. Odin vs. The Mandarin (Hmm, what’s that about?)
  3. Iron Man, Gamora, and Korg on Sakaar
  4. Captain Carter vs. the Hydra Stomper (I think Steve Rogers will be the Winter Solder this time around.)

And that’s of course just a taste of what’s to come in the series. I absolutely cannot wait.

X-Men ’97

Coming next Fall, we’re finally going to get our first official deep-dive into the X-Men. Of course, who knows how much it will affect the overall MCU but considering What If…?‘s tiny contribution to films like Multiverse of Madness who knows what this show could provide for the franchise.

It’s very exciting, that’s for sure.

Spider-Man: Freshman Year

So here’s the thing, this show isn’t about our MCU Spider-Man that we all know. This is a variant’s story that’ll feature Norman Osborn, Daredevil voiced by Charlie Cox, Doctor Octopus, and so many other characters. Basically, it’s going to be very interesting.

Unfortunately, it’s not coming until 2024.

Marvel Zombies

Marvel Zombies will live up to its gory reputation from the comics, for this series will be rated TV-MA…on Disney+. Yeah, that seems like an oxymoron but here we are. Disney+ has been including mature content on its platform to compete with the other streaming services. With the reveal of the rating for Marvel Zombies it definitely adds precedent to a rated-R Deadpool movie or a TV-MA Daredevil series.

I’m excited about Marvel Zombies but unfortunately it, too, won’t be coming until 2024. It also is a spinoff from What If…? and will feature characters such as Zombie Captain Marvel and a new team of heroes to take on the zombie scourge. The heroes will include Shang-Chi, Katy, Death Dealer, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and a bunch of other characters.

It sounds like it’s going to be a fun series for sure.

The End of Phase IV is Almost Upon Us

Yes, you read correctly. We’re about to end Phase IV of the MCU.

She-Hulk and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be the end of Phase IV. Isn’t that amazing?! We’re about to hit Phase V. And speaking of Phase V, what’s in store for us? I’ll share all of that news tomorrow as well as a sneak peek for the end of Phase VI. It’s going to be an epic ride for the next couple of years and I can’t wait to watch it unfurl.

Oh, and there’s one last tidbit I want to share with you.

Phase IV-VI is part of The Multiverse Saga. Wow, wow, wow. This sounds epic. It’s never been a better time to be an MCU fan.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.
