Last night I watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is still the peak example of MCU brilliance to this day. This movie is legendarily good, taking a simple plot and elevating it to oh-my-goodness-that-was-so-good status. And yet, as I was watching the movie, I noticed something quite surprising.
When Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff have their audience with computerized Zemo and he delivers his evil villain speech he says these words: “The war taught us much. After the war, S.H.I.E.L.D was founded and I was recruited. The new HYDRA grew. A beautiful parasite inside S.H.I.E.L.D. For 70 years HYDRA has been secretly feeding crisis, reaping war, and when history did not cooperate, history was changed. Accidents will happen. HYDRA created a world so chaotic that humanity is finally ready to sacrifice its freedom to gain its security. Once a purification process is complete, Hydra’s NEW WORLD ORDER will arise.”
And just like that, there’s a very possible hint at what the next Captain America movie will be about.
There have already been rumors that the villain of the film will be Sinthia Schmidt a.k.a Sin a.k.a Red Skull’s daughter. Her whole goal is to do what Red Skull could not and apparently, she’s quite a formidable antagonist. Who knows what the state of Earth will be like at that time in the MCU but it seems that Marvel Studios is definitely leaning toward the bold return of HYDRA with her as their leader.
And also considering that Thunderbolts is the very next movie, a story about a bunch of supervillains who come together to save the world after The Avengers are dead, it seems like Captain America: New World Order just might be the direst Captain America movie yet.
I can’t wait to learn more about this movie in the coming years.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
