I’ve Seen ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’

*sigh* I was really excited to see this movie. I mean, really excited. Ever since it came out I had heard so many rave reviews about this film that I’ve been waiting for the chance to see what all the hype was about. Well, I just watched it and I have thoughts…`

I have the perfect way to describe this film. Imagine the wacky plots of Regular Show mixed with the multiverse/crude humor of Rick and Morty paired with the heartwarming message of a Disney film. That is Everything Everywhere All at Once.

It’s a story about a woman who must save the multiverse from a great evil. To explain more would be to start delving into spoilers so I will not do that. What I will say is that the film is weird and its humor, while at times legitimately funny, wasn’t my style. I’m one of those people who isn’t a fan of Rick and Morty so you may understand why I wasn’t a fan of this movie.

The concept of the multiverse was handled exceptionally well in this movie but there were some concepts that I felt were just a little too over the top.

The performances of the actors weren’t bad, not at all, but to say that Michelle Yeoh deserves an Oscar for this film seems a bit much. Her transformation through the movie was palpable but there weren’t any moments where I sat back and said, “Wow. She’s doing a fantastic job in this movie.”

I did love seeing Ke Huy Quan who was undoubtedly my favorite character in the film. It made me very happy to remember that he’s going to be a part of Loki in the next season.

Besides him, I just wasn’t a fan of this film. I was expecting something extraordinary with a story, unlike anything I had ever seen before. Instead, I watched a film with a predictable conclusion and a plotline that after a while was just overwhelming with its extreme weirdness.

That is, of course, my opinion. There are lots of other people who enjoyed it. I am just not one of those people.

I’m giving Everything Everywhere All at Once 3 out of 5 stars.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day.
