When Enola Holmes came out two years ago I was expecting to be bored and maybe even annoyed with the new take on the iconic Holmes story. Instead, I was swept along for the ride, becoming entirely invested in Sherlock’s little sister, played by Millie Bobby Brown.
Just this past weekend, the film’s sequel, aptly titled Enola Holmes 2 came out and I am happy to say it was very entertaining.
Millie Bobby Brown is back as the lovable, fourth-wall-breaking Enola Holmes set to take on another case that puts her in greater danger than ever before. Henry Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes plays a bigger part this time around. Unfortunately, after following Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr’s portrayals his broad-shouldered, lackadaisical take on the iconic detective is appallingly lackluster.
There is a nice twist toward the end of this movie that I particularly loved and am really excited about moving forward in the Netflix-Holmes universe they’re creating. And overall, it was another smile-inducing fun time.
I’ll give Enola Holmes 2 four out of five stars and 92 out of 100.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.
