I love a good movie with a storyline I’ve never managed to see before and The Banshees of Inisherin is precisely that type of film. I won’t go into detail about what the movie is about because there’s something so delightful about not knowing the movie’s plot and watching it unfold.
Beginning as a comedy that grasps you within the first ten minutes, the story gradually builds to a fascinating crescendo that concludes in a delightfully ambiguous fashion. Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, Barry Keoghan, and the rest of the cast managed to completely enthrall me for a little less than two hours.
The film is being lauded by critics and has been nominated for all of the major awards so far and for a good reason. Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) understands how to direct a riveting story and he does so again with this brilliant movie.
