There are great movies that stick with you forever and then there are excellent movies that you watch, forget, and one day remember as a film you really enjoyed. Causeway is the latter.

Jennifer Lawrence stars in this film as a soldier from Afghanistan in rehab after suffering a brain injury from an IED. She’s forced to return to her home in New Orleans where she meets Brian Tyree Henry’s instantly likable James and they become friends.

What transpires over the next hour isn’t exactly anything special but there’s something undeniably comforting about these two characters getting to know each other over the course of the movie. Each actor provides enough depth to their performances that you are swept along with them, eagerly awaiting each friendly encounter.

Watching this movie, I was once again struck by how spectacular an actor Brian Tyree Henry is. He really disappears into each role I’ve seen with him. I definitely feel like he’ll be getting an Oscar at some point because the man is talented.

All in all, this movie, currently on Apple TV+, is definitely worth watching. I’m giving 4 out of 5 stars and 90 out of 100.
